In DC, there is a gigantic sculpture called “The Awakening”, depicting a bearded man waking up and stretching, coming out of the ground.. Last night could be the Dodgers awakening with three regulars coming out of slumber or off the IL.
Freeland is actually hitting and playing D better than he did in the minors.wgen we get Tommy and Kim back, we add speed and another switch hitter, something Doc loves, balancing up with the sluggers.

“Sasaki threw a bullpen session at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday and is now expected to make his first minor league rehab assignment scheduled for next week. The hope is that Sasaki will return to the team in September, and despite his early season struggles, Dave Roberts is insistent on keeping Sasaki as a starting pitcher, per Doug Padilla of the Orange County Register”.
“Obviously, he is a starter; we see him as that,” manager Dave Roberts said. “You just don’t know what’s gonna happen with starting pitching… But right now, we see him as a starter.”
if nothing else, last night made lots of fans happy. not to mention the players! haven’t seen that many smiles in the dugout in weeks! …. i loved the way Dave Roberts managed the bullpen last night! he wasn’t taking his foot off the throat of the cardinals. especially in the ninth with Diaz. Banda didn’t seem all that happy to come in to finish it, but he gets paid very well for just that. … if you’re a dodger fan, heck a fan of any team, how can you not love Vesia? …. poor freddie! 17 hit parade and he didn’t get a single hit! oh well ,2rbi should satisfy him a little! …. Dalton. Rushing is way better t defensively than barnes! offensively? it won’t be close in the near future! …….Mookie was Mookie last night! the dodgers were the dodgers last night! for one night, all was well in dodger world!

and for all of those who think that the bullpen is fine, I offer today as exhibit A. Brock Stewart? In three games in LA he has pitched 2 2/3 innings and given up 6 hits and 2 runs in high leverage situations.
They don’t currently have a closer. Treinen can’t find home plate yet. Tanner Scott has been a blowtorch. Yates has been worse.
It was an incredible one-game winning streak.

Look I know we aint playing well. But when we get to the playoffs (yes we are gonna be in the playoffs)…….
We can throw out Yamamoto, Snell, Glasnow, Ohtani.
No one we face will want to see that. On top on that we take our 13 best arms (Kersh, Sheehan, Kopech…)
Everyone stick with these guys. No one thought we’d win with no starters last year and WE DID.
We do the same in 25. Now is the time to go!
It’s been somewhat of a rough stretch recently, but we’re still in first place. The offense has been showing signs of life and our rotation is finally getting healthy at the appropriate time for a deep playoff run. A potential playoff rotation of Ohtani, Yamamoto, Snell and Glasnow alone should make the Dodgers heavy favorites in any given playoff series. Tanner Scott appears to be on the mend. We should be getting our CL back soon, but Roberts needs to do a better job at monitoring Scott’s workload. I don’t care how talented you are, overuse is bound to take a toll.
Not worried about the offense. As Ohtani continues to get stretched out, Glasnow and Snell come into their own, we will not need a lot of runs to win games. Ironically, this is why I predict the Dodgers offense is going to start putting up crooked numbers on the score board with more frequency. The pressure to perform should be less with starting pitching of that caliber.
Barring any unforeseen injuries, our best baseball is yet to come. Our players are getting healthy at the right time.
BTW, Dean is a 5th or 6th outfielder… at best!
Dodgers are 10-17 since Independence Day but hey, all is well.
I don’t think we have to worry about the wildcard spot. We got our starting rotation back and Max is back as well. I expect a good August and a better September. Tommy and Kim will be back healthy at some point. Our schedule is favorable. If we play well against the Podres we will be good.
Scherzer against Kershaw tonight. Should be classic. Kersh for the win!

I am no longer worried about LADT ending, which would definitely reduce my quality of life. I have deduced that we are to Mark as enchiladas are to me. At 6’4”/270lbs., I know I need to stay away from enchiladas…….but just CAN’T!!! They are like the boomerang that just keeps coming back and landing on my plate. Sorry Mark, but you are addicted to us. Tough break for you, excellent for us.
