Sacramento River Cats (Giants) 4 – OKC Comets 2

The AAA affiliate of the Dodgers is running out of SP.  This was game 3 of a 6 game series, and it was a full bullpen game.  LHRP Ronan Kopp was the opener, and he did not have a good inning.  

The first 3 batters reached. There was a BB, SB, RBI single leaving runners on 1st and 3rd.  After one out, a SF brought home the 2nd run. 

OKC got one back in the 3rd.  3B Ryan Fitzgerald singled and moved to 3rd on a single by 2B Austin Gauthier.  Fitzgerald scored on RF Zach Ehrhard’s SF. 

With RHP River Ryan pitching his 2nd inning, he gave up 2 singles, a GIDP, and a RBI single before getting the 3rd out. 

In the 4th, LF Kiké Hernández hit a leadoff HR to climb back to within 1.  

With 2 outs in the 5th, RHRP Edwin Díaz completed his back-to-back games by getting a fly out.  Both Kiké and Díaz should be rejoining LAD next week. 

With RHRP Chayce McDermott on the mound in the 6th, Sacramento got the run back.  A BB, sac bunt, and RBI single scored the 4th run.  

RHRP Seth Halvorsen pitched his 1st game for OKC and retired the side with 1 hit on 11 pitches.  RHRP Wyatt Mills pitched a scoreless 8th after a pair singles.

Arkansas Travelers (Seattle) 5 – Tulsa Drillers 4 

Arkansas matched every Tulsa score until they scored a run with 2 outs in the 8th. 

In the top of the 2nd, 1B Jake Gelof singled and RF Kole Myers drew a BB. SS Jose Izarra singled to load the bases.  Gelof scored on a ground ball force out.  

With RHSP Payton Martin on the mound, Arkansas tied it up in the bottom of the 2nd after a double, the runner moved to 3rd on a line out and scored on a groundout.  

In the 4th, DH Zyhir Hope singled, and with 1 out Myers walked.  C Hayden Gilliland hit a 3-run HR (3). 

With Martin still pitching, Arkansas tied it up in the bottom of the 4th inning.  The inning started innocently enough with 2 strikeouts.  That was followed by a BB, RBI double, to 3rd on a WP, RBI single, SB, and RBI single.  LHRP Myles Caba got the final out of the 4th.  

Caba and RHRP Christian Ruebeck pitched the next three scoreless innings. 

RHRP Lucas Wepf got the first two outs in the 8th, but then gave up the go-ahead HR and eventual winning run. 

Gilliland was the only Tulsa batter with more than 1 hit, and the only Tulsa batter with a XBH: HR (3).

Great Lakes Loons 8 – Lansing Lugnuts (A’s) 5 

RHSP Tyler Gough was starting his 4th game for GL.  In his previous 3 starts, he did not allow a run in 13.0 IP.  But he scuffled in this one.  He allowed solo runs in the 1st and 3rd, and 2 in the 4th.  He completed 4.0 IP, allowing 4 runs (all earned), 4 hits, 3 BB, and 4 K.  Every arrow is still pointing up for Gough. 

Luckily for the Loons, the bats showed up.  In the 1st, CF Eduardo Quintero drew a BB and moved to 2nd on a WP.  With one out, Quintero moved to 3rd on a F8 and scored on a PB. 

In the 2nd, RF Jose Meza doubled (10) and scored on 2B Eduardo Guerrero singled to score Meza. 

GL took a 6-1 lead in the 3rd.  Quintero led off with his 9th HR of the year.  SS Emil Morales singled and moved to 3rd on DH Logan Wagner’s double (5).  3B Chase Harlan scored both runners with his double (5).  Harlan went to 3rd on a ground out and scored on a SF. 

Gough left the game with a 6-4 lead.  GL scored a pair more in the 5th.  Harlan singled and scored ahead of Guerrero’s HR (5). 

RHRP Robby Porco relieved Gough and single, HBP, GIDP with runner moving to 3rd where he scored on a single. 

LHRP Jacob Frost pitched the final 4.0 innings without allowing a run.  He did allow a pair of hits, and a pair of BB, to go with a pair of K. 

Each of the three GL pitchers had a HBP.

Ontario Tower Buzzers 7 – San Jose Giants 5 

Ontario jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 3 ½ innings, lost the lead, and finished with a win. 

With one out in the 1st inning, 2B Kellon Lindsey homered (4) for a 1-0 lead.  

In the 3rd inning, DH Aidan West singled with one out, and 1B Easton Shelton slugged his 30th HR for a 3-0 lead. 

With 2 outs, CF Jaron Elkins and Lindsey singled.  Both runners pulled off a double steal and scored on West’s single. 

After three scoreless, hitless innings, RHSP Marlon Nieves walked the first batter he faced in the 4th and was relieved by RHRP Javier Bartolozzi.  Bartolozzi walked a batter, a fly out put the lead runner on 3rd, and then a SF. 

With Bartolozzi still pitching in the 5th, he issued a BB and a SB.  The next batter reached on a throwing error with a run scoring.  The second run scored on a triple.  

In the 6th, RHRP Dailoui Abad allowed 2 runs to tie the score. 

In the 7th, RF Ching-Hsien Ko homers (16) to take back the lead. 

Ontario got an insurance run in the 9th.  LF Brendan Tunink singled, stole 2nd and scored on a RBI single from 3B Oswaldo Osorio. 

RHRP Jholbran Herder pitched a scoreless 7th, and LHRP Peter Bonilla pitched the final two innings without a run for his 1st save.

ACL White Sox 4 – ACL Dodgers 1 – 7 innings 

The 60-game 2026 season for the ACL Dodgers has come to an end.  The ACL Dodgers ended up 25-35 for the season.  I will be working on a season wrap up very soon.  

The ACL Dodgers struck in the 1st inning.  DH Nelson Quiroz (rehab assignment) tripled (1) and scored when SS Moises Acacio singled him home.  

18-year-old RHP Tommy Case started, and after a good May and June, his July struggles continued.  In the 3rd, he gave up a single, SB, and RBI single. 

In the 4th, Case allowed a solo HR. After a K, he allowed a single, SB, RBI double.  After a SB, there was a runner at 3B with 2 outs, and RHRP Griff McGarry (rehab assignment) entered.  A fielding error allowed the final run to score.  

Nelson Quiroz was the only ACL Dodger to have more than 1 hit, and the only XBH.  Quiroz is a 24-year-old catcher who should be returned to Tulsa to finish the season.

DSL CLE Mendoza 10 – DSL LAD Bautista 8 

DSL LAD Bautista used 4 pitchers and all 4 were touched up for runs.  They allowed 10 runs on 11 hits and 5 BB.  Their defenders also committed 5 errors, accounting for 3 of the 10 runs as unearned. 

DSL LAD Bautista got a single from 3B Ariel Reynoso and scored on a RBI double (5) from 1B Oliver Chapman. 

In the 4th, 2B Willy Bergolla and DH Jeibert Rondon both walked.  With one out, both runners executed a successful double steal, putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. With 2 outs, CF Rubel Arias reached on an error with both runners scoring.  SS Ezequiel Melburne singled, and Reynoso hit a 2-run double (5).  All runs were unearned. 

In the 9th, three BB, a WP, and a groundout scored two.  

·      Ariel Reynoso – 2-3, 2 BB, 2 runs, 2 RBI, double (5)

·      Oliver Chapman – 2-4, 1 BB, 1 run, 1 RBI, double (5)

DSL Astros Orange 8 – DSL LAD Mega 7 – 10 innings 

17-year-old RHP Miguel Herrera started and pitched 4.0 innings.  He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, 3 BB, and registered 4 K.  The best pitching from DSL LAD Mega came from 19-year-old RHRP Nehemias Valdez.  He pitched 2.0 scoreless innings with 0 hits, 2 BB, and 4 K. 

Down 2-0, DSL LAD Mega scored their 1st run in the 2nd.  C Roberto Saucedo singled and moved to third on SS Luis Luna’s double (2).  Saucedo scored on a groundout. 

Down 3-1 in the 5th, DSL LAD Mega tied it in the 5th.  CF Antoni Urena hit a leadoff double (6), and that was followed by 2-run game tying HR (4) from RF Erny Orellana. 

Mega pushed across 4 in the 6th taking a 7-3 lead. Saucedo singled and continued to 3rd on a Luna single.  Luna stole 2B.  With one out, Saucedo scored and Luna to 3rd when 2B Edgar Sanchez reached on a fielder’s choice.  Orellana was HBP to load the bases, and Luna scored when LF Hendry Arvelo was HBP.  DH Rafy Peguero singled home a pair to reach a 4-run lead. 

The next two DSL LAD Mega pitchers entered trying to protect a 7-3 lead.  However, they pitched poorly, allowing the Astros Orange team to tie the game in the 7th.  

DSL Astros pushed across a run in the 10th, when the placed runner scored on two fly balls.  DSL LAD Mega could not score in the bottom of the 10th.

·      Hendry Arvelo – 2-5, 1 RBI, double (6)

·      Luis Luna – 2-4, 1 BB, 1 run, double (2)
