The Brewers didn't have the Dodgers' money, their collection of MVPs, or their seemingly unlimited financial resources. What they did have was younger legs, energy, athleticism, and players who looked like they genuinely enjoyed playing baseball.

At 6-foot-6, De La Cruz has extraordinary reach and quickness, but he can still struggle with routine plays. His arm is so powerful that he sometimes seems to rely on it rather than set his feet and make an uncomplicated throw.

Before recapping the rest of the series, I have to mention the group of reserve players who were, for that season, referred to as "The Stunt Men". Those players were Mickey Hatcher, Dave Anderson, Franklin Stubbs, Rick Dempsey, Danny Heep, Mike Sharperson. and Jeff Hamilton.

That's a lot of turnover, but it could get worse. What will happen to Mark Walter? What will the DOJ's investigation reveal, and will he be forced to sell the team? I have no opinion... we have to wait and see. I also think that Tommy Edman could be traded if there are takers.

Fire Dave Roberts! He's only won three World Series. Obviously incompetent. Get rid of the old guys! Apparently, players over 30 should be taken behind the barn and traded for a couple of 19-year-old prospects who hit .240 in Double-A.

Some Dodger fans don't want a manager. They want a magician who wins 162 games, sweeps every postseason series, and never makes a decision they can criticize in hindsight. And even then, they'd complain that he didn't win by enough!

The most alarming statistic is not his batting average. It's that he's hitting .036 against pitches of 95 mph or faster. That's the kind of velocity he will continue seeing in October.

Perspective is in the eyes of the beholder. I thought it might be interesting to get two different perspectives on last night's loss, which put the LA Dodgers down 2-0.

Lasorda gets the fruits of victory

According to Friedman, Shohei is feeling considerably better following his recent stint on the injured list. However, Friedman acknowledged something that should surprise absolutely nobody: Ohtani isn't always forthcoming about how he feels physically.

The most interesting revelation is that some scouts believe Quintero could ultimately surpass Josue De Paula and Mike Sirota. That's quite a statement considering all three rank among MLB's top 20 prospects.
