The 2026 Arizona Fall League starts Saturday, October 3, so it’s less than a week away. All six AFL teams play on Opening Day. There's nothing else happening that day... well, just the start of the Dodgers' playoff run. We will beat that horse later!

For the Dodgers, their prospects are assigned to the Glendale Desert Dogs, along with players from the Braves, Marlins, Pirates, and White Sox. Dodgers Eduardo Quintero and Charles Davalan are among the headliners.

A few dates worth circling:

I was surprised to hear Aroz, Horn and Morse were also on the roster as initially the Dodgers had just listed the first six players. So, here’s the skinny on those three, and they’re a more interesting trio than their lack of prospect-list buzz suggests.

• Anson Aroz, C, 23: Dodgers’ 19th-round pick in 2025 out of Oregon. He’s a switch-hitter who spent 2026 between Ontario and Great Lakes. Overall, he hit .256/.395/.391, .786 OPS, with 4 HR in 133 AB. The eye-catching part is the OBP. At Low-A Ontario, he posted a .452 OBP, then struggled after the promotion to Great Lakes. The AFL gives the Dodgers a chance to get him more upper-level at-bats and evaluate him against better pitching.

• Sam Horn, RHP, 23: This is the unusual one. The Dodgers signed him July 27, 2025, and MLB shows him assigned to the ACL Dodgers in March 2026, but he has no official minor-league statistics yet. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 217 pounds, out of Missouri. MLB then activated him for Glendale on September 15. That makes the AFL essentially an extended-development opportunity, perhaps the first substantial public look at him in pro ball.

• Cody Morse, LHP, 23: Dodgers’ 12th-round pick in 2024 out of Weatherford College. Big body at 6-foot-6, 210 pounds. He pitched primarily in relief for Great Lakes in 2026 and put up a 3.34 ERA, 37 K in 29⅔ IP, and a 1.31 WHIP. He missed a chunk of the season on the IL, so the AFL makes perfect sense as a way to recover innings while testing him against stronger hitters. He was also selected for the Dodgers’ Spring Breakout roster earlier this year.

The one I’d circle is Horn. A 6-4 right-hander whom the Dodgers signed out of Missouri, with virtually no pro-game record, and then suddenly they send him to the AFL? That smells like a player-development story worth watching.

And Morse could be a sleeper. A 6-6 lefty striking out roughly 11.2 per nine innings is exactly the sort of raw material the Dodgers have historically enjoyed tinkering with.

Aroz is less mysterious, but a catcher who can switch-hit and reach base at a high rate is always worth a longer look.

Not bad for a team that was rumbling, bumbling, stumbling across the finish line... as Chris Berman liked to say. The big boppers didn't bop much yesterday, but the bullpen was nails... even Bobby Miller! Now we wait and see what the playoff roster will look like. If anyone gets it right, they should also buy a lottery ticket. I am not even going to try to predict the roster... at least, not today!
