Teoscar Hernandez is back… on an alleged three-year deal with a guaranteed $66 Million. It includes a $23 Million Signing Bonus and has $23 Million Deferred (like AF wanted). It also includes an option for a 4th year at $15 million.

This is alleged, but the Dodger now have a powerhouser lineup! They were already a powerhouse.

Look at This Lineup:

  1. Ohtani DH
  2. Betts SS
  3. Freeman 1B
  4. Teoscar LF
  5. Muncy 3B
  6. Smith C
  7. Conforto/Pages RF
  8. Edman CF
  9. Lux 2B

Bench: Barnes, CT3, Kike, Rojas

*This is after Ohtani qualifies as a Pitcher.

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani announced some huge personal news on Saturday.

Ohtani announced that he and his wife Mamiko Tanaka are expecting their first child together. He shared the news on Instagram through a photo featuring his dog Decoy.

“Can’t wait for the little rookie to join our family soon!” Ohtani wrote.

The Dodger roster is looking solid.

My only “hmmm” is the lack of youth, although I believe we’ll see a lot of our young talent cycling through the Dodger roster over the course of the season. I expect the Dodgers to slow-play Ohtani due to labrum surgery and Freddie due to his ankle and rib injuries. I also see Max missing games with his thoracic issues.

Every season is completely different. The pitching staff (for every team) is the typically the biggest question mark. I expect to see a new level of “work load management” with our pitching staff — Ohtani, Snell, Glass, Yamamoto, et al — so we can have 3-4 arms ready to go come playoff time.

Can the Dodgers negotiate an extension for Sasaki before and if they sign him? I’m not sure why the international money means so much if this is the case. Please explain again how the system works for Sasaki. Dodgers have done a great job so far this off season. I can hardly wait for Spring Training.

    Thanks

  4. Mark TimmonsDecember 28, 2024

The latest news is that Clayton Kershaw is talking a year extension with with a second year option, and that he should be ready for Opening Day.

    His surgeries were minor.

  5. Andrew Vincent ForteDecember 28, 2024

One Hernedez signing done, one Hernandez signing to go, named Kiki, With NO openings on the 40 man roster,Kiki will have to wait till the day Spring Training starts on February 7th when players can be transferred to the 60 IL,namely Ryan,Sheehan,Graterol and Stone, opening up 4 spots.. Kershaw will also be signed at that time.

41 days till Dodger Spring Ttraining commenses and 26 Days or less( January 23 is the last day for his decision) when Roki Sasaki will be wearing Dodger Blue and Sham Diego will be cying the Blues.

    Glad Teo is back.

Yes, it’s an impressive line-up. Like to see Kike back.

Are the Dodgers done? Obviously, they want Sasaki. Maybe a reliever, but Tanner Scott? Probably lot of money. Oh wait. Every player is a lot of money these days. The Dodgers have a lot of interest, according to pundits.

Okay, Burnes signs with Arizona. Somewhat of a surprise, but I believe he lives in Scottsdale.

Can the DBacks afford that contract? His velo and strikeouts are down.

The Giants must wonder if they can ever become a destination point for free agents. Adames doesn’t count. He won’t live up to the contract.

What’s up with the Padres? Too many big contracts.

They’re hopeful they sign Sasaki. I still think he signs with LA.

Still pissed off that the DBacks signed Greinke with that last minute crazy deal. A year later they were looking to trade him.

They probably hope that Burnes pitches well, then opts out. The best scenario for Arizona.

Definitely a good day for Dodger fans.

  7. Andrew Vincent ForteDecember 28, 2024

Let’s see what Burnes’ ERA is pitching in hitting friendly Arizona.

  8. DanoDecember 28, 2024

AF has once again proved that he is the MVP of the Dodger family. He used his leverage against Teo and pulled another Dodger friendly contract out of his hat. Impressive. I’m sure I’ll be accused of kissing his ass again……whatever! The guy is a stud. Ok you can cherry pick the two times he effed up…..again whatever.

I’ll take a stinker with 10 great moves any day of the year. Every player wants to be a Dodger. That is a huge advantage when negotiating.

When Ohtani pitches, can they shuttle a reliever to AAA or does it have to be a position player?

Another great day to be a Dodger fan!

    Book em

I hope the D-Bags get “Greinked!”

Zack Greinke was 19-3 with LA in 2015 witha 1.66 ERA and a 0.844WHIP. He was second in the Cy Young Balloting,

In his first year with AZ, he had a 17-7 record with a 4.37 ERA and a 1.273 WHIP.

He bounced back was had a 3.20 ERA in 2017 and a 3.21 ERA in 2018, but clearly was never the pitcher he was in 2015 for the Dodgers. In 2019, they sent him to Houston for four stiff who amounted to zip!

He continiued to lose velocity until he was just rolling the ball up to the plate.

Burns’ WHIFF% is dropped from the 97th percentile to 69% and 74% the last year. He is clearly not the power pitcher he once was. The only question is; “When does he have Tommy John?” It’s coming. I just don’t know when…

This means that the D-Bags will trade Montgomery or some other starter… most likely Jordon Montgomery.

I was never interested in Burnes and AF was not either. Arizona is trying. They got Josh Naylor to replacve Walker, but Walker was better.

  10. Watford DodgerDecember 28, 2024

Gonna be seeing a lot of Corbin Burnes.

6 years and $210m to Pitch for the D’Backs, with an opt out after 26.

Reminds me of when they swooped in and signed Grienke out of nowhere.

  11. Mark TimmonsDecember 28, 2024

BTW, someone sent me this photo today. It was taken at Billy Bob’s Texas in Ft. Worth, 27 years ago. It was back in the day when my oldest son was 11 and I was 6’4″ and 270 lbs. I am now 5’11’ and , 220 lbs. I thought it would take longer to get this old.

  12. MushersPopDecember 28, 2024

I believe Pages has one remaining option. So, he could spend some time at AAA until Ohtani qualifies as a two way player. That way the Dodgers can sign Ki’ke.

  13. Duke Not SniderDecember 28, 2024

Even before signing Teo, the Dodgers had improved the roster with Snell, Conforto, Edman and Kopech.

And I hope AF and BG aren’t done.

Lux + Miller + Outman + ??? for Luis Robert Jr?

    That would freak people out.

  14. Dan in PasadenaDecember 28, 2024

As far as I’ve heard, Kiké has not been re-signed. Did I miss it?

  15. ToyCannon23December 28, 2024

Glad have Teo back . Let’s go get Scott and fingers crossed Roki in Jan call it an offseason

  16. dodgerdadDecember 27, 2024

hell yeah! let’s run it back!

Who Bats Where?

A good percentage of comments on this blog relate to “who bats where” in the batting order. “Shohei should bat cleanup.” “ Freddie should be the number three hitter.” “No, Freddie should hit second.” “Max Muncy should hit cleanup.” “Mookie should hit 9th.” … and on and on… Where…

Happy, Hopeful, Blessed, and Thankful

I grew up in Ohio and lived there until 1976, when I was 23 years old. I have been in Indiana for 50 years, so I consider myself a Hoosier. Now, I actually live 45 minutes from Bloomington, where the IU Hoosiers play. However, since I was nine years old, I have been a Dodger…

Are You True Blue?

What do I mean by true blue? Well, over the years I have seen my share of bandwagon and fair-weather fans. True blue fans stick with the team no matter what. Their allegiance to the team never waivers. Not when a favorite is traded or lost to free agency, not when the team…
