OKC Comets are PCL Champions

OKC Comets 5 - Las Vegas Aviators (A’s) 2 

After a scoreless 1st inning, the Comets broke through in the 2nd.  CF Alek Thomas hit a 1-out single and scored on a double from 3B Ryan Fitzgerald. 

OKC added a pair of runs in the 3rd.  RF Zach Ehrhard led off with a double (2).  LF Josue De Paula singled with Ehrhard taking 3rd.  1B James Tibbs III walked to load the bases.  DH Mike Sirota singled to score Ehrhard, and Thomas hit a SF to plate JDP and a 3-0 lead.

LHSP Cole Irvin pitched 2 scoreless innings and retired one batter in the 3rd inning before giving way to RHRP Jerming Rosario with one inherited runner.  Rosario got the final two outs plus a scoreless 4th inning.  

RHP Christian Romero relieved Rosario for the 5th and pitched a scoreless inning himself.  In the 6th, he walked the first two batters and was lifted for RHRP Kyle Hurt.  Hurt struck out the first two batters, walked the next batter, and got a groundout to end the inning.

RHRP Bobby Miller walked the first batter he faced but retired the side for a scoreless inning.  

In the 8th inning, with 2 outs, 2B Hyeseong Kim singled.  Kim scored on Ehrhard’s 2nd double of the game and 3rd of the playoffs.  JDP doubled to score Ehrhard for a 5-0 lead.  

RHRP Seth Halvorsen relieved Miller in the 8th inning.  He gave up a leadoff triple and 2-run HR.  Halvorsen got the next three batters out to end the inning. 

In the 9th inning, RHRP Paul Gervase was summoned to close out the game.  He retired the side in order for the save.  

With the win, OKC wins the Pacific Coast League Championship.  They will stay in Las Vegas for another one game “Winner Take All” AAA Championship Game against the Rochester Red Wings (Nationals).
