Los Angeles Dodgers Magic Numbers

  • To clinch a first-round bye: 3
  • To clinch the NL West: 5

You can see the flashes with Walker Buehler, as he struck out 9 in 5.1 IP. He only walked one, but we did not see consistency. He has one more start to see if he can attain that. Tony Gonsolin went three innings for OKC last night, throwing 45 pitches. He did not allow any hits and walked just one while striking out six. His fastball was generally 92-94 MPH. He will likely get called up in the middle of next week.

Dalton Rushing hit two HRs for OKC last night. It’s tempting. Daniel Hudson is slowly marching off the playoff roster. He looks old and tired. Oh, Wait! He is!

Wow, what a finale! So exciting to have our two superstars walk it off! Almost like someone scripted it for a movie.

Once again, the Madres didn’t let up against the mighty ChiSox. Three up, six to play.

    Hope Muncy’s O.K..

  2. Dodger DaveSeptember 22, 2024

That game will build confidence and synergy.

  3. JayMoSeptember 22, 2024

Dodgers picked a bad time to play mediocre. Especially at home against a team they dominate. They should sweep the Rockies at home and win 2 at their place. SD is playing White Sox, so they’re not getting any favors there. Left a bunch of runs on the bases.

I admit that occasionally I go to the “I’m Smarter than the Dodgers Debbie Downer Site” just for $hits and Giggles. I did it just now…

All I can say is: OMG! I am not sure if it is high comedy or the ultimate in being pathetic…

  7. RCRaySeptember 22, 2024

Love Ohtani, but was it wise to steal second when down by three runs in the ninth?

  8. WoodyinVTSeptember 22, 2024

They need to hold that shrinking lead today. I keep thinking about the ’64 Phiwwies. No excuses to lose to the Rockheads at home, especially with Yamamoto pitching. This will be the week that decides whether they win the division or wimp out to the Madres.

  9. Jorge ValenzuelaSeptember 22, 2024

But assuming you’re right, why not use it against SD? Just because not. Better to use it for playoffs, since SD hasn’t seen it, only the first game, which they didn’t really see anything from Yamamoto.

“Surprised they didn’t try to get him to the padres series”

Maybe because neither the Dodgers nor anyone else cares about those SD weirdos…

I think the only team that could be feared is Atlanta, and I’m sure many think the same.

they are crazy if they don’t sign Teo! If the plan is to move mookie back to 2nd base next season, need a right fielder. Lux will probably be the odd man out. Don’t see him in the outfield mix. Edman has to play ss or center field. and if Dalton is to be the left fielder, does page’s become the 4th outfielder? Adames? Lots of things to consider but, this season comes first! Walker looks about 80% of his old self! is that good enough for october? …. Gonsolin? encouraging! … Clayton? intriguing! …. it looks like the dodgers “need” a. win today! like i posted earlier, don’t give the Friars a shot at taking first place in the upcoming series. Maybe Charlie Blackman could have a belly ache today! man he gives the dodgers fits! …. not 2nd guessing Doc, but i would have let Honeywell come back out for the ninth! oh well , they couldn’t score anyway. …. Hudson does look tired. the whole bullpen looks a little fatigued! Vesia. is slowly becoming a top 15 reliever in the majors! Guy is ramped every pitch! …. Gavin got hosed at the plate by the home plate umpire! no excuse for those strikes! He also looks a little tired. hasn’t been sharp in the field or at the plate. ….. I like Feduccia! ….. Yamamoto today. Surprised they didn’t try to get him to the padres series.

I’ll also speculate that Walker Buehler will sign a one-year deal with the Dodgers with one or two more mutual options.

  13. Brian PerkinsSeptember 22, 2024

Can the Dodgers offer Teo the Q.O.?

He won’t take it but just curious.

Rushing, Pages, Edman could be full-time guys next year.

The Mookie decision needs to be made early and stuck to.

  14. sbuffaloSeptember 22, 2024

There have been moments with Walker Buehler and no doubt the Dodgers will move forward with fingers crossed. They really need him to step up. Just needs better location at times.

Watched the interview with Dalton Rushing and Jackson Ferris. Rushing expects to move forward as a left fielder. He has some big time power, that’s obvious. Ferris has shot up in the organization. Great pick-up. We’ll probably see both next year.

The Dodgers need Tony Gonsolin. Hopefully he can help them in the playoffs. So far the results have been promising.

The Dodgers had numerous opportunities last night and couldn’t come up with the big base hits. Daniel Hudson has definitely struggled at times.

Nothing Wrong With Back of the Rotation SP for LAD

Who Bats Where?

A good percentage of comments on this blog relate to “who bats where” in the batting order. “Shohei should bat cleanup.” “ Freddie should be the number three hitter.” “No, Freddie should hit second.” “Max Muncy should hit cleanup.” “Mookie should hit 9th.” … and on and on… Where…

Happy, Hopeful, Blessed, and Thankful

I grew up in Ohio and lived there until 1976, when I was 23 years old. I have been in Indiana for 50 years, so I consider myself a Hoosier. Now, I actually live 45 minutes from Bloomington, where the IU Hoosiers play. However, since I was nine years old, I have been a Dodger…

Are You True Blue?

What do I mean by true blue? Well, over the years I have seen my share of bandwagon and fair-weather fans. True blue fans stick with the team no matter what. Their allegiance to the team never waivers. Not when a favorite is traded or lost to free agency, not when the team…
