I’m here and so far I’m fine. I visit here every day but just haven’t had the time to post. I live in Charlotte County(Punta Gorda) on the west coast of Florida and so Far we haven’t been hit too bad by the virus( 7 sick and one dead)

The east coast is another story by far.

I appear to be fine. I go to the office every day and spend at least 12 hours at the office and then spend another 2-4 working at home. I am pushing hard to be able to retire by June 26. My daughter is angry with me because I still go into the office. I plan on starting to work more remotely beginning tomorrow. I have a fear of loss of living more than I fear losing life, but what I fear most of all is disappointing my family.

I have been too busy to respond as much as I want. But I read LADT and The Athletic every morning with my 1st cup of coffee and 4:30 AM.

I’m here, sort of. Bangkok, a city of 10-12 million is eerily quiet at times. The Thais are social people, lots of street life, vendors, food stalls. Almost everyone wearing a mask. I go out to shop for food in the local market. Business as usual but only food shops for take away and pharmacies are open. Trains which are usually packed are thinly occupied with social distancing in place when possible. People are polite as usual. We have no way of knowing the real infection and death rate because testing is not widely done. 10 dead out of 1600 infections. Quite low. If it is real, I have no idea why it would be so low as we saw millions of Chinese tourists here before Wuhan exploded. The world is still waiting for the economic fallout of this to hit home.

To quote Willie Nelson:

“It’s been rough and rocky traveling

But I’m finally standing upright on the ground

And after taking several readings

I’m surprised to find my still fairly sound.”

Like AC, I still go to the office every day, though I’ve cut my hours back to 8-10 a day. Unlike AC, however, I don’t see retirement in my near future. I still love being a lawyer. And enjoy working. The administrative side of a law practice I don’t enjoy at all.

The SC in my handle stands for South Carolina not Southern California. Being raised in Jupiter, FL I loved going to Spring Training @ Dodger Town in Vero. Served Marine Corps 1962-1968, but never sent to Nam.

Still here, still OK.

I had some kind of an infection in my lungs – not viral anyway. Not pneumonia. 3 antibiotics and some steroids later, doing much better.

My wife has managed to stay out of the hospital – she had an infection that we’ve beaten off. She had a a procedure on her dialysis access on Friday – the hospital was oddly quiet (no elective procedures being done).

Still working – who knew that lawyers are essential?

Still can’t buy toilet paper, paper towels, dried beans, hand soap or hydrogen peroxide (nothing for a month). Some day, there will be millions of people who have a pallet of toilet paper in their garages and they will finally figure out they don’t need to buy more.

I am alive and kickin. Looking forward to the country concert that is going to be on CBS this Sunday, and Garth and Trisha on CBS Wednesday night. Most of the pay channels are letting people watch for free. 2D2, I won the Demeter card I was bidding on, got it for 1.26. Pretty cool. Also bought the book about Roy Gleason, Lost in the Sun. It got here yesterday and I read a little of it today. A couple of weeks ago, I was pretty sick. Started out with a sore throat, I thought I was getting a cold. So I took all the normal cold medicines and was using Vick’s to help tame the congestion and cough. Turned out I had a bladder infection and a sinus infection at the same time. Got some antibiotics from the VA doc, and in about a week, I was a whole lot better. Check on my family in Cali every week to make sure they are ok. My daughter in Oregon, and my son, who lives up in Denver and make sure they are all well. Streets in our little town have been pretty empty. Theater is closed, but the bars have stayed open. Restaurants are mostly take out only. My building is for the most part, shut down, no visitors except caregivers. I can still get my Dodger fix watching games from 18 and 19 on MLB.TV. TP and other items are also in short supply here. I have enough to last more than a month though, so I am ok. Be safe y’all.

Although for language reasons, I don’t comment too much (My english is very bad) I read this blog every day.

Here we are, fine until now, I cannot stop working since being a patrolman, I cannot afford to not go to work.

House cleaning.

We are fine. Going for some groceries this morning in a bit. Most places have the first hour reserved for seniors and everything marked off on the floor for the 2-meter separation distance. Some open at 7:00 A.M. for seniors after shelves have been stocked during the night.

We have a good supply of hand sanitizer and gloves. No masks.

Just got back. We are very fortunate. Shelves well stocked. The only item we could not get was yeast. Everyone keeping their distance.

I’m good. Stores still open, seniors in the morning. I’m still walking, gonna get on my bike now that it appears to have stopped raining.

Yeah, the Dodgers looked good. Just like they did for 7 straight. Better than 106 wins? Yeah. Sure.

Just checking in from Indianapolis and my wife, mother-in-law and all are still fit as a fiddle. My wife is working from home and I am thrilled to have her here. Thank goodness for grocery pick-up and restaurant delivery.

Mark, are you feeling okay? Your message felt a little eerie and sounded foreboding IMO. If you need any help, just give my a call. Glad to hear that the rest of you are okay and are being as safe as your situation permits. I know how important you daily endeavors are to you, but please remember that it will still be there when this passes.

Please take care of yourselves. I consider you my Dodger family and would be sorrowed by any of you passing so take care of yourselves, stay as safe as you can and remember to stay six feet away from others.

I am so glad that Bear and Badger have returned to the fold and love the additional wealth of knowledge they share. I can’t imagine not having the daily joy that reading the posts all of you write brings me.

Should we be trying to reach out to younger Dodger enthusiasts to encourage them to become a part of this site? Just seems that we spend much more time discussing the 50’s and 60’s than other eras which makes me extremely happy. Maybe we can help baseball, in general, to find a way to involve anyone younger than a ” baby boomer” in the greatness of this sport that transcends the present and whose foundation is the history of the game from its inception to its future.

I hope that this idea leads to much more discussion and future topics of the day because it has become my more relevant to me with the birth of my grandson. I want him to love the game as I do and to love it even after I’m gone.

Just a thought.

My wife and I are doing fine right now. We are in St. Lucie County Fl. on a barrier island and things aren’t too bad here yet. We usually head back to NJ around the 1st of May. Ocean County NJ has many assisted living/nursing homes and more senior living communities than any other NJ county. We’re thinking that we may be staying in Fl. longer this year.

I try to post every day so I am here in NoCal surviving with my spouse and our cat, Bella. Have not left my house since March 11th. Store shelves empty for some items. My husband bakes bread so as long as we have flour and yeast, we will be ok. Stay stay and well everyone.

Thanks to all for a great site for Dodger stuff and REAL community. Just found site about 4 mos ago, always read,never post. Been Dodger fan for almost 50 yrs now – loved the 70s went to alot games as a kid. Miss the rivalry between Reds vs Dodgers – lots of battles,great memories. Lost my favorite player as a kid last week – Jimmy Wynn. Just loved such small guy (5’10”) could generate so much power. Working from home for 3 weeks now, family is all fine. Crazy times ! but very blessed that my wife and I are working. Definitely very appreciative for all I have and don’t think will ever take for granted anymore. Take care all and keep loving each other.

We’re doing fine. Waiting for season to begin in empty stadiums initially. Apparently that is being discussed.

My daughter is a respiratory therapist working emergency room at a large local hospital. They were already busy with flu, asthma, and other respiratory illnesses in addition to the virus.

Early reaction in Cali, stay at home orders, are having a real impact, slowing the spread out here.

They’re using hydroxychloroquine for some of those who have been hit hard. For many, it’s like a cold or maybe slightly worse, but for people who are overweight, have underlying health issues or are older, it can be life threatening. Then there are cases where a perfectly healthy person gets it and has real serious issues.

Stay safe.

So far so good for myself and family. Local Whole Foods had more workers than shoppers. Keeping grocery shopping down to at most once a week.

During this time make sure you keep you immune system strong. Get a good night sleep, exercise ( but don’t overdo it) and try to eat well.

Stay healthy my friends.

My family is healthy as of now. My wife works as a nurse practitioner in a LA hospital so am concerned for her. Next month will be hard for the whole community. Be safe out there and keep your distance and keep wasting your hands!

Ramona Shelburne just tweeted (and said it wasn’t an April Fool’s joke) that Direct TV has just reached a deal to televise Dodger games. Nice news. Even though I have Spectrum I’m happy to see some others will have a chance to view the games. Now I just need to find out if the contract expires on the first day games are played again. 🙂

On the way we’re stopping my cousins, older than us and dropping flowers off on their porch… Call em on the cell phone and have em come out and we’ll yak for awhile at a prescribed distance… Sounds cool to me…
