Disagree, not disagreeable
We always use cranberries in the dressing. Cranberries are big in this household. My friend Wayne and I go raking cranberries around Lake Rossignol every October and this year raked about 300 pounds each. Elaine and I freeze enough to provide her with a glass of home made cranberry juice every day throughout the year until next fall. The rest, probably about 200 pounds, we give away to family and friends.

We do both on the cranberries also. My hubby cooks the bird and dressing while I do the side dishes. I also like baked sweet potatoes (I think they are yellow) and Brussels sprouts. Of course mashed potatoes and green bean casserole which I never had in Canada but grew to love here. Mince meat pie and raisin pie with the big light brown raisins along with pumpkin pie.
Wifey made the apple pie and pumpkin pie last night. It’s my niece’s 18th Birthday, so we’re also having cake, oh my! I also love brussel sprouts. I like to roast them! Happy Thanksgiving DBM!!!

I make the Bird. A twenty pounder, stuffed and roasted traditionally. I make the stuffing with onions, celery, water chestnuts, walnuts and the guts from the bird. My beautiful wife handles the mashed potatoes and yams. My cousin and his family are bringing peas and onions, and a green bean casserole. We’ll have some fresh baked butter rolls and cranberry sauce. I like the smooth kind out of the can, and my wife likes the fresh kind, so we do both.

It is not a day we celebrate in the UK, but I always think that Thanksgiving is something we could benefit from – a time to reflect on what we have, and not in what we don’t, as so many of us seem to do these days.
Pete, I’m always here, every day reading with interest, but sometimes I have nothing to contribute.
To be honest, I’m still suffering from the worst kind of Hangover, the Dodger kind. The only one that can last for weeks.
I’m really conflicted as to what I want AF to do now.
When I first posted here, I was a “push in the chips” kinda guy. Mark has turned me. I first heard the phrase “Boat Anchor” at LADT, and I cant help but think that signing Cole for 7 years will end up exactly that. In fact, I know he deserved it, but to a certain extent, CK’s contract is burdensome, as is Kenley’s.
Question is of course that we need a co Ace to go with Beuhler if we realistically want to win a WS, and although I really like what Dustin May has, he’s at least a year away.
Much of what Mark has preached has turned into reality over the years.
The fickle nature of Bullpens, Pitch Framing (Grandal for Matt) is a thing after all, Boat Anchor contracts, and my favourite, finding the player before he becomes the player.
He has been right more often than not.
On the other hand, AC seems to have a Sixth Sense when it comes to evaluating talent. Yellich & DJLM among others would have been wearing Dodger Blue if he were GM.
Sometimes you do have to go all in and back your hunches.
Then, also from AC and DCs unprecedented coverage of the Dodger’s Minor League system, I find myself not wanting to trade away a single Prospect ( I get Mark’s 18 Untouchables), as they feel like family.
So what to do?
If Ryu will sign for the right deal I take him back. That’s only money.
I pass on Cole & Strasberg. They will want too much and more importantly, too long.
I go to war with the young guns, Julio, Dustin, Big Tone and Walker with Clayton in charge of the Nursery. We still have Ross & Kenta in a flexible role.
I would wait until the TD to see where we are at. Someone Elite could well be available at that point. Verlander, Kluber etc and make my move then.
We have more than enough Pitching to win the West.
Now, the player i would sign is definitely Rendon. He ticks all the boxes for me, and he contributes every day. We need a 3B – it’s JT’s last year and he will play 1st for that year (as well as resting).
He hits for average and is RH.
It seems to me that winning a WS is about it all coming together at the right time, coupled with an element of luck and good fortune, but my biggest concern is with the final element.
Good Game Management.
So I’m going half way – I’m signing the best position player available, while standing pat with the Pitching until July.
No Prospects were given up in the making of this Post.

2. That Andrew Friedman is running the show;
3. That the Dodgers have been at the top of the league for 7 years;
4. That the Dodgers don’t have to pay Drew Pomeranz for 4 years;
5. That the Dodgers will sign a couple of significant free agents this off-season; and
6. That the Dodgers will win the 2020 World Series/
Yes, I was fortunate enough to ride in the GreyCup parade when the Lions won. Bud Grant was a very good coach in the CFL.

Bud Grant went on to coach the Minnesota Vikings for quite a few years. I believe Joe Kapp joined him there for a while.

DC… remember Joe Kapp, I think his name was? Grey Cup a big deal in Canada. Happy belated Thanksgiving to you and yours.
I remember Joe Kapp and By Bailey. They are the two Lions I remember from way back then. The Bombers had Leo Lewis, Ernie Pitts, Kenny Ploen and several Grey Cup appearances.
The Grey Cup is still a big deal. Waiting 29 years gives me hope for the Dodgers.
Happy Thanksgiving. We celebrated ours on October 14. So much to be thankful for regardless of the season although just a bit more thankful during baseball season.
Also there is hope for me now. Last Sunday the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League won the league championship for the first time in 29 years. I have followed them since the mid-fifties. They defeated the Hamilton Tiger Cats who won the most league games, had the highest scoring offense during the season and lowest scored against defense. The Bombers simply dominated on both ends of the field 33-12. A team that refuses to be beaten won’t be beaten.
