For a few days now, I have been working on my top Dodger prospect list for 2025 and I currently have 52 players on the list. Frnkly, when you get past 15 or 20, you can just shake them up and put them wherever. This is a work in progress, so I may post this a few more times until it get to the final iteration. There will be a lot more added…

Agree? Disgree? Did I miss anyone? Here they are:

  1. Alex FreelandSwitch-Hitting SS Intangables and talent (in that order) make me rate Alex Freeland the Dodgers Top Prospect. He still has a lot of work to do, but he has done a lot of work and acheived great progress already. He always exceeds expectations. He’s a “ballplayer.”
  2. River RyanRHP He will miss all of 2025, but his arms is electric and he has one of the best arms in all of baseball. Can he “stay healthy “is the only question?
  3. Joendry VargasRH SS/3B I rank him #3 because of his defense. Rushing and DePaula are offense first players which means they may not have a position.
  4. Dalton Rushing C/LF I see him as a Kyle Schwarber with not as much plate discipline. He can be a solid (not great) catcher and a below average LF’er. With 500 AB he will get you 30 bombs… and maybe hit .225! In 2026, he could platoon with Smith… maybe sooner!
  5. Josue DePaula LH DH/LF/1B His “hit tool” is not unlike Yordan Alvaerz. Unfortuneatley, so is his defense. Hopefully Ohtani will be a full time LF’er by the time DePaula arrives.
  6. Jackson Ferris LHP Not the best arm (but close), but he is the best pitcher in the organization. If we see him this year, it means a lot went wrong.
  7. Emil Morales RH SS/3B He might stay at SS but could have to move to 3B… of course they said that about Corey Seager too. He has a high baseball IQ and allegedly a great work ethic which will take him a long way.
  8. Zyhir Hope LH OF He has the tools, but can he put it all together? My closest companison is Luis Robert, Jr.
  9. Eduardo Quintero RH CF – Blazing fast as a Centerfielder, he has 20+ HR power and is the type of player who could win a batting title.
  10. Nick FrassoRHP He should be back in 2025 after his second surgery. His stuff is filthy and the only questions is “Is he unlucky or just fragile?”
  11. Justin Wrobleski LHP We have already seen that he has the stuff to pitch in the Show. He just needs control and refinement.
  12. Diego CartayaRH C He still has the tools. Can he cut down on his strikeouts and be more selective? His talent and makeup is off the charts… which is why I still have him this high.

    Treinen coming back is AWESOME.

Good dude, great clubhouse guy, great guy in the Pen. And he is nails when it counts.

Also I have a Treinen jersey and wanted to wear it to opening day, now I will!!

    One of my favorite Dodgers.

    Now go re-sign WB.

thank goodness that’s over! Does signing Conforto spell the end of Teo? Or does it mean that Kike isn’t coming back? If Teo resigns, and Edman is in center, Conforto and pages platoon in right? if edman needs a day or he plays shortstop, Pages can fill in in center. All these questions will soon be answered. I just hope they (AF) doesn’t let Teo walk away! Don’t need to lose that production. As for Outman, i believe he’s gone. i have for awhile. Now a trade for Robert could really change the landscape! hold on everyone, it could get crazy!

With Conforto on board, the Dodgers can trade Outman, Pages, Rushing (who has no place to play) and additional prospect/s for Luis Robert Jr. Signing Teo will enable he, Robert Jr. and Conforto, with bench support, to solidify the outfield until DePaula is ready. Rojas and Edman can handle SS until Freeland is ready, then revert to utility men. Lux and prospects can be used to obtain a high leverage reliever, at which point the Dodgers have only to obtain Sasaki and they are set for years to come.

Ain’t no way Soto is going to pay the Mets back like Ohtani has for the Dodgers on his contract . Numerous sources from within the Dodger s front office and even MLB have said that Ohtani in one year has already paid for his contract from all the off field endorsements and of course winning the World Series. Soto won’t come even close to equaling his contract. Mets totally overpaid for Soto. So many teams are bitching about the Dodgers getting anybody they want but what they don’t realize is that the Dodgers are owned by a big time financial conglomerate who specializes in moving money around . Just learned this, the money that the Dodgers have to put aside every year in a special account for Ohtanis deferred contract , they can actually invest in other things, therefore making even more Money on cash they are puting aside, and totally freeing up more money for the Dodgers to sign more guys, and that’s what us pissing off all the other teams . Thing is, the Dodger ownership is playing financial chess while everyone else is playing checkers ,, and they don’t give a rats ass who they piss off, and I’m sayin it here, they will bring back Teo, Treinan, Kike,, and Walker, beacause all those guys want to BE here, they know how special this organization is. What a great time to be a Dodger fan, front office is fearless.

    Per Feinsand:

Juan Soto and the Mets have agreed to a 15-year, $765 million deal, per sources.

  7. JoeZDecember 9, 2024

Michael Conforto signs a 1 year contract with the Dodgers.

  8. DanoDecember 8, 2024

That’s a really good list. I love the top 10 being loaded with talented youngsters. They’ve started their professional careers on the right foot and the world is their oyster. They have a long road ahead but I’m still excited.

    Book em

Great list. Will read again. Initial impression is I would rank Ferris higher myself.

    Here’s a very interesting article:

Soto’s on-base skills are unlike anything we’ve seen

Thanks Mark. One of my favorite things to do is to project future rosters, even the 25 roster. Recently I was cleaning a desk that I’d used for the past 8 years. I found on a couple of note pads, projected rosters from the past. One had Pollock in the lineup. I’m not sure other than Muncy at first, there were any other position player on the current roster.

Nothing Wrong With Back of the Rotation SP for LAD

I said it when Roki Sasaki was struggling…If not Roki, who? He finally started to pitch with more confidence and he put together a string of positive starts. Yes, there were those who forgot about his previous four excellent starts and instead focused on his CWS start. He is a…

Who Bats Where?

A good percentage of comments on this blog relate to “who bats where” in the batting order. “Shohei should bat cleanup.” “ Freddie should be the number three hitter.” “No, Freddie should hit second.” “Max Muncy should hit cleanup.” “Mookie should hit 9th.” … and on and on… Where…

Happy, Hopeful, Blessed, and Thankful

I grew up in Ohio and lived there until 1976, when I was 23 years old. I have been in Indiana for 50 years, so I consider myself a Hoosier. Now, I actually live 45 minutes from Bloomington, where the IU Hoosiers play. However, since I was nine years old, I have been a Dodger…

Are You True Blue?

What do I mean by true blue? Well, over the years I have seen my share of bandwagon and fair-weather fans. True blue fans stick with the team no matter what. Their allegiance to the team never waivers. Not when a favorite is traded or lost to free agency, not when the team…
