MLB Pipeline has revised their Top 100 prospect list and the Dodgers are very well represented.

CF Mike Sirota rose 26 spots on MLB Pipeline’s new Top 100.  That was the second most spots climbed, behind only Tampa Bay’s OF Theo Gillen.  Gillen rose 29 spots while Sirota rose 26. What they said about Mike Sirota’s rise.

“A crowded Double-A Tulsa outfield forced Sirota back to High-A, where he suffered a right knee injury in 2025, to begin this season, but his performance was too good to ignore, earning him a promotion after 35 games. He continues to mash and reach base like few in recent Minor League history; his active 63-game on-base streak is the longest such run in the Minors since Nick Martini’s 66-gamer in 2018. Sirota’s plus run tool and above-average defense on the grass similarly helped him secure a big jump.”

The Dodgers now have 2 of the top 3 rated outfielders.  Both Josue De Paula (#4 overall) and Sirota (#12 overall) have climbed past uber hyped OF Max Clark (Detroit) and Walker Jenkins (Minnesota).

The Dodgers also now have 3 of the top 6 rated OF prospects as Zyhir Hope moved to #20.  That is three top OF in top 20 overall for LAD.

Eduardo Quintero is at #33 and is #11 rated OF.  That makes 4 of the top 11 OF prospects as Dodgers.  But that is not all.  Both Charles Davalan (#89) and James Tibbs III (#98) have climbed into MLB Pipeline’s Top 100.  That is now 6 LAD outfielder prospects in the Top 100.

Teenage SS Emil Morales is now #49, RHSP River Ryan is #72, and RHSP Christian Zazueta has climbed into the top 100 at #92.

The Dodgers have 9 Top 100 prospects

Seattle is next with 7 top 100 prospects, although it will drop to 6 this week when Colt Emerson graduates.  Seattle already boasts one of the best pitching rotations in MLB, and 2 of the top 9 prospects are Seattle SP.  LHSP Kade Anderson is a legit Ace prospect and is the top rated pitcher overall.  RHSP Ryan Sloan is #9 overall, #3 pitcher, and #2 RHSP.  Pittsburgh’s Seth Hernandez is the top ranked RHSP at #7.

Anderson is 21 and is dominating AA.  In 13 starts he has compiled 66.2 IP and has a 1.22 ERA.  He has a 0.71 WHIP, .162 BAA, 99 K against just 10 BB.  He has only allowed 2 HR.  He will not be in MiLB long.

Sloan is 20 and at AA. Not dominating, but for a 20 year old in AA he is pitching well.  He is another strikeout pitcher with limited free passes.  In 57.0 innings he has struck out 72 and walked 12.  A 6:1 K:BB is outstanding.

Milwaukee and Washington have 6 top 100 prospects.  Milwaukee has the top rated prospect, SS Jesus Made.  The A’s have the 2nd overall prospect and #2 SS in Leo De Vries.  Washington’s top prospect and #3 overall is SS Eli Willits.

CWS is next with 5 top 100, with OF Braden Montgomery (#24) due to graduate shortly after the All Star Break.   Montgomery has had a good start to his MLB career, and the Dodgers have three younger AA OF ranked higher than him.  All three performing well at AA.  CWS has 3B/SS Caleb

Bonemer and SS Billy Carlson as top 100 prospects.  They are also primed to take the #1 overall pick in the July 11 draft.  The White Sox are a legit contender this year, and will be for multiple upcoming years.  They also have 2 top 100 LHSP prospects.

Five organizations have 4 top 100 prospects: Minnesota, NYY, Miami, Cleveland, Cubs.

San Diego has just 1 top 100 prospect: C Ethan Salas, #35 overall.  Their prospect cupboard is bare curtailing their chances to spend big at the deadline.  I may be wrong, but I cannot see Preller trading Salas.  They do have LHSP Kruz Schoolcraft who just missed the top 100 with a 55 FV. They also have two pitchers with 50 FV.  They have a total of 4 prospects rated with at least 50 FV.

By contrast the Dodgers have two 60 FV (JDP and Sirota), seven 55 FV, and three 50 FV.

Other NL West teams top 100 prospects: SF ( 3), Colorado (3), Arizona (2).

Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Atlanta have 3.

Two other teams had only 1 top 100 prospect: LAA and NYM.  How does David Stearns still have a job with NYM?

What does it all mean?  The Dodgers have a lot of talent, but no guarantees.  MLB has been filled with prospects that did not pan out.  But many of those started out as high prospects, while most of the Dodgers prospects had to play their way into the top 100. After the draft, there will be 10+ (??) who could make top 100. That could move Davalan and JTIII out of the top 100. We will see.

there was a time on Scott Andes’ old website, where he used to go nuts over games like this one.

It was either a game like where the Dodgers didn’t seem to feel the lineup or a picture who was worthy. Or those games that we go like 16 innings and then the Dodgers would put in Kike to pitch and he would give up a home run. Scott would rant and rant on the Dodgers, not caring about every game, about how every game counts…

I cannot tell you how thankful I am that we’re beyond that, with a team that we can trust to rely on and believe in

  2. Daytona JackJuly 2, 2026

Looks like Doc is staying with Barnes who is averaging 6 runs a game and who is getting railed tonight. 12 game leads let you do that. Still, he has a rested BP after Robo last night and should get him out of there so he can catch the late bus back to OKC.

    6-1 A’s after 5.

  3. CassidyJuly 2, 2026

Safe to say we won’t be seeing Barnes in October. He needs to give us 100 pitches tonight and then have Miggy close it put

I’d like to not see him in July either

  4. Singing the BlueJuly 2, 2026

Both DePaula and Sirota have homered tonight.

I really don’t understand why they aren’t both at OKC by now, especially Sirota since he’s a couple of years older.

Sirota’s consecutive games on base streak now stands at 65 games (part at GL and part at Tulsa).

My boss is flying to China, so I get to play today.

TONS of good, Dodgers stuff from the fangraphs today: Brendan Gawlowski chat includes a trade idea reminiscent of Cassidy’s above:

Phillip Denny: Dodgers are apparently open to moving any of their OF prospects other than De Paula for a top tier middle IF or C. Sooooo….Ryan and one of Quintero/Sirota/Hope for Made…who says no?

    Brendan Gawlowski: Both

clydethedog: With the Dodgers recent intel, it’s obvious they like De Paula more than the OF prospect logjam. What high end prospect should they be trying to trade for?

Brendan Gawlowski: They’re not in the market for high end prospects, they’ll want big leaguers who can help them win a World Series right now

Phillip Denny: Respectfully Brendan, Katie Woo’s report today says the opposite. “However, the primary focus for the back-to-back champions isn’t on the major-league roster, according to multiple sources familiar with the club’s thinking who were granted anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject. The Dodgers want to improve the depth of their minor-league system and are prepared to part with at least one of their top outfield prospects not named Josue De Paula to do so.”

Brendan Gawlowski: well I stand corrected. Surprising! The plan is to part with good non premier prospects to bolster depth?

sliderinthedirt: Dalton Rushing has quietly been terrible after his hot start, 7 HR in 28 and then 2 in 142. Is he still a 60? Getting a lot of Jackson Holliday vibes from him, the way the walks just disappeared one they hit the majors… I suppose it’s a ?

Brendan Gawlowski: He’s a catcher with a 125 wRC+ in 50 games. That’ll play. Some of the… non statistical stuff has my antenna raised On the broader point about walks, yeah, you can’t just look at a minor league walk rate and assume it will hold…

lou-harrison-bader: Maybe I am looking to far into it or too granularly re: sirota but isn’t Blaine Crims best offensive season in the minors worse than any of sorotas stints?

Brendan Gawlowski: If the question behind the question is ‘is there a level of production so high that a guy is basically guaranteed to be good if he does X?’ I would say maybe but I haven’t seen it and Sirota has not cleared that threshold… And I like Sirota plenty

mrfister: Is this what Kyle Tucker is? A replacement level outfielder who can accumulate runs and rbis?

Brendan Gawlowski: I’ll take the over

lou-harrison-bader: re re: Sirota that was my thought as well. For what it’s worth (unless I am searching wrong) it looks like there are 4 hitters to put up a wrc+ north of 180 across 2 seasons above rookie ball level since 2016 and they are Juan Soto, Vlad jr. , Kevin Mcgonigle and Mike Sirota.

Brendan Gawlowski: I like Sirota… I suspect he’s going to be very high on our next update. At the same time, he is running a 22% walk rate and he is not going to do that at the big league level! Juan Soto’s is 15%, Aaron Judge’s is 16%

The walks are floating his topline production in a way that is not going to translate directly

And remember when we used to think (myself included) the Dodgers didn’t care about defense?!??!?

      Jay Jaffe to the contrary:

      https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-best-team-defenses-of-2026-so-far/

“Muncy is just one of several Dodgers whose defensive play has helped his team top the rankings in my annual midseason defensive breakdown, with shortstop Mookie Betts, center fielder Andy Pages, second baseman Alex Freeland, and catcher Will Smith also making major contributions to that placement…”

Bear, the are the #1 and #3 top prospect. Made is considered as much of a can’t miss as was Chourio. Neither one is moving.

          • BlutoJuly 2, 2026Reply

yes, based on the article, it looks like the Dodgers are looking for much more high ceiling prospects that they can develop and not ones that are already at the Apex of their prospect value

at least that’s how i read it

    • Jeff DominiqueJuly 1, 2026Reply

Neither Made or Willits are being traded. Willits and De Paula are both 60 FV. Washington does not have an OF prospect with the pedigree of JDP but they are not trading Willits for him.

  14. BlutoJuly 1, 2026

DePaula and Sirota named to Futures Game roster.

It’s back to back appearance for DePaula, I believe.

I dunno, but if Woo’s reporter is correct (admittedly a big if) I’m super-dooper excited to finally see more good prospect for prospect trades in the vein of the Busch deal.

    • Jeff DominiqueJuly 1, 2026Reply

Name another prospect for prospect deal. Neither Ferris or Hope were considered elite prospects, and Busch needed to be moved. He had no place to play with the Dodgers. The Cubs needed a 1B. Name a 60 FV prospect that was moved in a trade for another 60 prospect. Name a 55 prospect that was moved for another 55 prospect.

BUT, if it truly is a consideration, I hope that the Dodgers propose JTIII to Tampa Bay for C Caden Bodine. Bodine was reportedly very high on the LAD list, but he went #30. He was just promoted to AA after dominating at High A. They are both late 90’s on the MLB Pipeline Top 100, and both will probably drop off after the draft.

      • BlutoJuly 1, 2026Reply

        Yes! We need more!

Could be exciting. Way more exciting (to me) that trading for a fifth OF or fifth relief pitcher.

Also, I’ll note in Woo’s reporting she said the Dodgers are exploring trading prospects for other prospects who are “further away” from MLB. I defer to others, but I’d presume that future values are lesser for farther away prospects?

Maybe not. This is a “science’ I am super-foreign to.

I’m quoting her (in case some haven’t read the article)

“…Los Angeles is believed to be searching for high-ceiling prospects in a potential trade and isn’t necessarily coveting major-league-ready talent in a return…”

Very nice win last night. Wrobleski is a Godsend! Guy wants the ball ! Pitches like his hair is on fire! So much for him not being a strikeout pitcher. 10-2? Nobody ever expected this! 2 more starts before the all star game. If he wins both starts, how does he not get a spot on the all star team? We don’t know what the future holds, but he should be in that rotation for a while!

Not sure why the Dodgers moved Ohtani back in his scheduled start, but it seems like the smart thing to do! A bullpen game today, still a very winnable game. A win and another Friar loss, and it’s a 12 game lead heading into the 4 game series. I think it would be mean Yamamoto Thursday, Ohtani Friday, and Sheehan Saturday, and Lauer Sunday. Nobody could have predicted this rotation! But should any of us be surprised?

Brock Stewart threw a nice inning last night. Mills too. All hands on deck for today!

Congratulations to Dave Roberts! Sometimes I wonder how much longer he wants to manage. Would another championship this season be enough? Just wondering, not predicting. But he sure has done a fantastic job with this team. Money or not, he’s managed the games like nobody else has in the last few years. So what ever he decides to do, he’s a hall of fame manager! Hopefully he’ll stick around for a few more years!

I swear Teo looked like Andy last night! Swinging at balls completely out of the strike zone ! Andy needs to have a talk with him!!! Really, it’s good to see Teo back!

Ryan Ward didn’t waste much time hitting a bomb last night! Hopefully they can find a mlb team that will take him and let him play. Probably projects a .240 hitter with 20-25 homers with someone else. Great young man!

Speaking of swinging wildly! Ohtani was looking for his shoes after a few swings last night! Not criticizing, just amazed how bad he can swing like that and next at bat hit one 440 feet.

The A’s have reason for optimism! Just need some pitching! Position wise? I like what they are putting on the field. Hopefully they can be in their new stadium soon!

    • Andrew V ForteJuly 1, 2026Reply

The A’s will need an ABUNDANCE of pitching to truly compete especially when they move to their new stadium in Las Vegas where the baseball will travel a long way.

      • BearJuly 1, 2026Reply

Isn’t that field supposed to have a dome? Pretty sure the interior temps won’t be close to what it is outside. Not many domed parks are homer havens.

You guys see this quote from Edman after yesterday’s game?

“It really is an honor to just be a part of this team. It’s such a crazy accomplishment– 1,000 wins is just unbelievable if you really think about it. Couldn’t happen to a better guy. I’ve just loved every minute playing for him since I’ve gotten here. He’s so personable and makes it really easy to play for. He keeps things loose, and there’s a reason for why he’s won 1,000 games.”

I had some doubts about Roberts back in his early managerial years (often out-managed in real-time in the playoffs; seemed a step behind in crunch time), but boy has he done a great job since then. He believes in his players and they believe in him! Congratulations to Dave Roberts!!!

    • BearJuly 1, 2026Reply

Edman to me is the epitome of a gamer. Guy plays like he loves dirt. And did you see Tommy Tanks homer? Dead central. It was no cheapie.

      • BobbyJuly 1, 2026Reply

        It was a shot

      • Daytona JackJuly 1, 2026Reply

Having Edman is similar getting Trea Turner back from the Phillies. With Edman back, I can’t for the life of me, figure why we need Kike since Edman is a switch hitter. All it is going to do is send a young guy (probably Freeland) down. So we trade a young switch hitter for an aging utility player. Although not ready to anoint Freeland, but I think he is younger, better and hungrier than a guy who wants just wants another ring for a half season’s work.

  19. BearJuly 1, 2026

Wrobo is the most valuable pitcher to this point. Simply because he has stepped in and made the loss of Snell and Glasnow irrelevant.

    • BadgerJuly 1, 2026Reply

Who woulda thunk? A 12 game lead on July 1st with Betts hitting .244, Tucker hitting .239 and without Smith, Snell and Glasnow. It sure feels like this team could put it on cruise control for a while, resting older dudes, giving backups and young players some experience.

But there is that home field thing.

Still reading the chatter about where Skubal might land, I’ll save what I’ve read and my opinion on it to avoid another “I don’t think that’s right”. There will be competition from all those teams that want to dethrone the Dodgers. And after watching what he did to the Yankees yesterday, they are going to want him as much as any team.

      • Mark TimmonsJuly 1, 2026Reply

DePaula, Tibbs III, and Ferris for Skubal.

DePaula, Tibbs III, Hope, Ko, and Ferris for Skenes.

Mark,I thought you said there was NO need to trade for Skubal.

          • BearJuly 1, 2026Reply

Well, we can all change our minds. I do not think they need him, but what a playoff rotation.

        • Jeff DominiqueJuly 1, 2026Reply

You are not getting Skubal or Skenes when the best pitcher going back to Detroit or Pittsburgh is Jackson Ferris. If they are not including Sheehan or Ryan, the Dodgers are not getting Skubal.

I do not know what it will take to get Casey Mize, who also shut down NYY the game before, but that is who I would focus on. He is a rental, but one who is certainly more apt to extend than Skubal. Don’t know if he is even leaning in that direction. With Yamamoto and Ohtani, the Dodgers do not need a #1. Mize would still be a playoff SP, but his prospect cost would be a lot less than Skubal.

          • BearJuly 1, 2026Reply

I have to believe the Tigers would want MLB ready players in return. Especially on the pitching side.

            • Jeff DominiqueJuly 1, 2026Reply

They want pitching. They have no MLB ready pitching in their farm. They have a MLB Ready OF in Max Clark. They have a MLB ready INF in Max Anderson. Jackson Ferris is not getting an elite player or prospect in return.

          • Andrew V ForteJuly 1, 2026Reply

I agree Jeff and I wouldn’t give up Ryan or Sheehan for a rental in Skubal.

Jeff, who in your opinion do the Dodgers draft at pick #40 in the July 11th First Year Players’ Draft? The system is weak with highly regarded catchers,so could it be 18 year old Will Brick a 6ft. 2 inch. catcher from Christian Brothers High School?

      MLB Pipeline has:

      ESPN has:

    • Jeff DominiqueJuly 1, 2026Reply

I am working on my draft post now. Yes, Will Brick is in the discussion. How realistic? There are multiple negatives on the pick. He is a HS catcher, and they are difficult to predict. His offense is questionable, but not his defense. His defense is elite, and you know that makes me happy. His pitcher loved him on his Team USA under 18. He reclassified, so he is young. He just turned 18 June 6. Is he a potential regular or backup. He is from Tennessee, so super scout Marty Lamb will be all over this, and the Dodgers trust him. He is a development project that could very well pan out and excel. But do the Dodgers want a development project for catcher right now.

Second, he is committed to Mississippi State where I am sure the NIL$$$ will be bountiful. The Dodgers bonus pool is small to begin with. Are they going to go all in on a HS catcher with questions?

He is the best HS catcher in the draft, and the top college catchers will be long gone by the time the Dodgers pick.

When you are picking 40, you can call it a 1st round, but it really is a 2nd round pick. MLB Pipeline has him as the #51 ranked draft pick, so he fits at pick #40.

It will be interesting what we do since very likely there may only be half a season next year

  22. Andrew V ForteJuly 1, 2026

Congratulations to Doc on his 1000th win! Great article Jeff on all the potential prospects or suspects.. The Dodger system is loaded compared to the NL West systems’ which are really weak. I’m sure AF/BG have a well thought-out plan for each of these players,by trade, being eventually on the Dodger MLB roster or they could be stuck in the system and eventually released. As Katie Woo of Athletic recently wrote an interesting article that AF/BG might feel it is a good time at this trading deadline to trade some of the prospects to strengthen areas of weakness in the system like catching and infielders.

“Roberts becomes fastest MLB manager to 1,000 career wins”.

  23. Daytona JackJuly 1, 2026

Read an article about the Dodgers loaded outfield prospects and suggested the team clear the logjam by trading DePaula, Tibbs, Erdhard and, of course, Ward, since there is no room in the Dodgers outfield for the next two or three years. The point was that their value would never be higher and we have plenty of talent at The two A clubs to support the move.

At first I thought it was crazy but the author made his point, no room at the inn. Putting 3 juicy prospects out there would reap an ace or two, fill in the catching gap and maybe a few future stars.

Losing those guys would suck, but I felt the same way when I sold my 86 El Camino. I got over it.

    • BearJuly 1, 2026Reply

Teo has just one year on his contract. They can open spots by trading Teo and Call. Tucker in my view so far has been hugely disappointing. Maybe he turns it around and maybe he does not. Kike will most likely not be back in 27. Right now, I believe the 27 season is in serious jeopardy since MLB is really pushing for a cap, and the MLBPA is not going to fold on that.

  24. Mark TimmonsJuly 1, 2026

My trip to Ft. Wayne was a very fun and information-gathering evening. I sat in the Loons Broadcast Room right beside their announcer, John Vicari. He is under 30 and a rising star in the announcing ranks. He is starting the same way Joe Davis started. I was in and out of booth during the entire game. I interviewed the chefs before the game and Paul Beachy (the Loons Bus Driver) during the first inning. We did the interview in the Pressbox, and it lasted about 15 minutes. I asked a few questions and gave him the platform.

Like everyone (and I mean EVERYone) I talked to last night, to a man, they think Mike Sirota will be the better player in MLB. They say he understands the science of hitting more than anyone they have ever talked to. When I hear that the Dodgers would trade anyone not named DePaula for Skubal, I think Sirota is the untouchable one. His makeup is off the charts.

You will see the interviews later this week.

    • 77DodgersJuly 1, 2026Reply

I have had a gut feeling for the last year that Sirota will be the first of the OF prospects to get the call.

2026 MLB Draft Preview – CWS Is On the Clock

Draft day is near (Saturday). Will the Dodgers get a difference maker at pick #40? Maybe, maybe not. Dalton Rushing is a difference maker and he was picked as the LAD #1 at #40. LHSP Zach Root (#40) looks like a strong potential difference maker as does Charles Davalan (#41). But their strategy is so muddled because of their lack of a bonus pool. It is not that there will…

Evolution of the Lead-off Hitter

The image of a prototypical lead-off hitter has changed dramatically over the last several years. When I first started watching baseball in the 50’s, most lead of hitters were players with high OBP’s and some speed. Of course, players in the 50’s were evaluated a lot differently than players are today. Pee Wee Reese was actually hit second more than he led off. As a leadoff man, Pee Wee hit…

Alex Freeland Has More Work to do!

I generally don’t have a “favorite” player… kind of like I don’t have a favorite kid… or grandkid. I admire his parents for what they did for him, and I admire his indomitable spirit. However, the time has come for Alex to…
