Could the Dodgers Really Field Two MLB Teams?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you part of the media?

I happen to think the media serves a valuable purpose. Yes, they tend to sensationalize stuff to gain readership but they also keep people (read politicians) honest (or at least somewhat honest).

OK, I’m sure your last comment will draw lots of opinions Mark, as it has motivated me to respond but I’d like to make my contribution to today’s post with a totally unrelated and very funny tweet.

As this person points out, not all sports have been canceled.

if you really believe that every other Indiana resident aside from these 15 are coronavirus free you are out of your mind. Nobody knows they have it because people are not being tested and/or are still asymptomatic! Please don’t think the virus has stopped spreading within the borders of Indiana.

As a former journalist, what constitutes journalism today is a joke. It’s agenda driven, slanted and honestly not many know how to write a fact based straight story. Television is worse with talking heads everywhere. This isn’t actually new, it has been heading in that direction for many years.

Technically, social media sites, such as this one, are now considered to be media. Although many of the stories appearing here are similar to the old columns appearing in newspapers and magazines, there are straight information stories as well.

So is Mark a journalist? Yes, I think he qualifies. I will not compare him to Bill Plaschke because that would probably send him to the ledge, but both write opinion based columns.

It’s good that Mark thinks about his employees, it indicates he understands that they are part of his extended family and the foundation of his business.

As to the Coronavirus, it’s important to use common sense and listen to health care experts. The new model has this peaking between April and June. This too shall pass, then maybe we can get back to baseball and other fun activities.

I liked your Dodgers A and B team Mark. I posted a week or so back an a/b position players lineup using what I thought were the best players on the A team. My point was to show even the second level players would be competitive with most of the other teams. When you put the pitching staff on the lineup card it really shows you the depth the Dodgers going forward especially when you take into account how young the guys are. Good read this morning.

Garlic my friends, raw garlic.

I’m in the high risk age group, we can’t change our ages or genetics, but we can boost our immune system. That’s our best defense against any virus.

Along with those immune boosting supplements Bobby and others mentioned let me suggest raw garlic, chop it up, swallow it down with water and ACV . Not only will it boost the system it will keep the crowds away also.

Vit C, sleep, moderate exercise all a must for healthy immunity.

It is not possible to address ANYTHING about the corona virus without getting political. We simply will not go there. PERIOD. When Trump closed flights from China on January 31st Biden and the DNC called him a racist. Yea we’d be in such better shape if only Biden was in charge.

Meant to say, along with those immunity boosting supplements……..

What I learned today.

There are people who comment here that drink concoctions I would never have thought was drinkable. This all started by eating bats. I added that last sentence to bring this back to baseball.

As one who has been in quarantine for the past two weeks, let me say Mark’s comments about this whole thing being a media-driven frenzy is asinine, to put it the politest way I can.

Wake up, Mark!

A neighbor who watches tons of sports in his den said this on day 2 of the sports quarantine. Saw a lady sitting on the coach. It was my wife. She seemed nice.

West Virginia is only state that hasn’t reported cases. Maybe it’s teeth related. Or, maybe chewing tobacco is a vaccine.

I have thought several times over this abbreviated spring training that we had enough depth to field two competitive teams. I like the idea Mark, thanks. As far as the virus is concerned, I wish everyone to be well and safe and take the recommendations offered if it applies to you. My daughter made a suggestion to me that she saw on TV, I think. If you run out of hand sanitizer, you can make some by adding a little alcohol to Aloe Vera. Sounds good to me.

… but you can’t beat a good lather with anti-bacterial soap for 30 seconds.

First ballplayer reported to have tested positive for COVID-19. He’s in the Yankee farm system and that side of their camp had already been closed as of Friday.

I believe MLB has now also issued an edict that prohibits organized workouts at team training sights. Maybe I misinterpreted what I heard, but does unorganized workouts lead to fewer cases of transmitting this thing? If so, maybe being disorganized is a good thing.

Whether it is media driven or not, whether it is political or not, I offer no opinion (although I do have my opinions). What I do see is that in a matter of a week or two, our government controls all sporting events, concerts, entertainment, jobs, colleges, medical facilities, whether or not you can leave your house, it has con tributed to the depletion of certain resources such toilet paper and food, and they control travel, they control virtually everything about us, there is mass panic and hysteria, and folks, the control will become more invasive, all over a virus – a virus for which the survival rate is extremely high and which the vast majority of people can not articulate the symptoms or how they differ from the common cold. That was easy, and it happened in under two weeks. Moreover, there is nothing we can do about it. Next, it will become a situation of where people will become ostracized in public should they cough in a public setting, or touch their face without immediately washing their hands. We can’t do anything about individuals pooping in the streets of San Francisco, but it won’t be long before neighbors turn in neighbors if they suspect they have the virus and aren’t following the government mandates.

If you further wonder how and why we got here, I would invite anyone to do some research o Event-201, hosted by the WHO, the UN, John Hopkins University, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the CDC and other medical leaders from various countries, where in October of last year, before the virus had been detected anywhere in the world, they laid out this very playbook for a pandemic. It makes for very interesting research.

I also think the Dodgers have the depth to field 2 very competitive teams, that probably would not win the WS, but could make it to the playoffs.

I am relatively certain that this kills coronavirus:

Well let me tell you what happened to me. Sunday I started to get sick. On Thursday I was really sick. I had a dry hacking cough, a fever, and short of breath. All the requirements for the Coronavirus. But, I did not travel anywhere. I ended up in the ER. They tested me for 17 different viruses. I had influenza A. I had the flu shot. I am 80 this year. Probably as sick as I have ever been. Doc said it would take 2 weeks to get over this. My wife and I quarantined ourselves. This is going to be hard on the elderly. Many on this blog are older. Be careful. We do not want to lose anyone.

I spent an hour and a half on the phone with a medical researcher friend and my head is spinning. He claims that deuterium depleted water is the most amazing discovery of our lifetime.

I have been reading about this for over a year, but he has been at the forefront of research into water for 50 years.

I have been under the weather since a week ago Thursday. Started out as a sore throat, and then my eyes were burning and I had a mucus buildup in them. I went to the VA and they sent me to an urgent care center. Turned out, I have a sinus infection and a bladder infection. The bladder infection helped with the sore throat, and the sinus caused everything else. I am taking huge antibiotic horse pills twice a day, and everything is starting to calm down. Ate the first solid food I have had in a week and a half today. This is about as bad as I have felt in years. No baseball, so I have been watching old Laugh-In shows, and going through my collection of baseball movies. There are a couple of baseball themed movies on TCM< Alibi Ike, and Elmer the Great. Pretty funny stuff.

I know we have at least 4 excellent attorneys on this blog. Wonder if we have any doctors or ets. Would like to hear some of their input. Also, what are the chances MLB cancels the whole minor league season now that a player has been tested positive for the virus? It would be a real shame.
