OKC Comets 10 – Round Rock Express (Texas) 3
LHSP Blake Snell on his 1st rehab start at OKC and 3rd overall. He was scheduled to go 4.0 innings and approximately 60 pitches. Mission accomplished with 4.0 IP and 55 pitches (37 strikes).
Snell allowed 2 hits, a 1st inning leadoff single, and a 1-out 100 MPH – 372 foot 2-run HR. He “settled” down and retired the next 9 hitters, issued a walk, then erased him on a DP to end his game.
Snell left trailing 2-1. OKC scored a run in the 3rd. CF Mike Siani led off with a BB. 3B Ryan Fitzgerald followed with a single. DH Ryan Ward had a 1-out RBI single.
The score stayed 2-1 until the 6th inning when OKC exploded for 7 runs. 1B James Tibbs III led off with a single. RF Jack Suwinski kept his HR swing up with a 2-run HR (8). LF Zach Ehrhard walked, 2B Austin Gauthier singled, and C Eliézer Alfonzo singled to score Ehrhard. Gauthier moved to 3B and Alfonzo to 2B on an E2. Fitzgerald hit a 1-out 2-run single. SS Noah Miller walked, followed by a RBI single for Ward. Miller went to 3B and Ward to 2B on an E6. The inning ended with OKC leading 8-2.
RHRP Griff McGarry followed Snell and struck out 3 of the 4 batters he faced. RHRP Brock Stewart followed and struck out the first batter he faced. However he walked the next batter and allowed a soft hit (70.3 MPH) into RF for a single. RHRP Christian Romero came in to get the final out in the 6th.
Romero finished the game allowing a run on a double and single in the 8th. 3.1 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 0 BB, 4 K.
OKC put up 2 more insurance runs in the 9th. Alfonzo drew a 1 out BB followed by a Siani double (5) putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. Fitzgerald singled to score Alfonzo and moving Siani to 3B. Miller hit a SF to score Siani.

San Antonio Missions (Padres) 8 – Tulsa Drillers 7
The Missions jumped out to a 6-1 lead after 4. LHSP Adam Serwinowski continued his struggles allowing 6 runs on 6 hits, 2 BB, and 3 K in 3.0 IP. RHRP Joel Ibarra entered in the 4th. He got one out, but then surrendered 2 BB and a 3-run HR.
The Drillers looked to get back in the game in the 3rd. C Griffin Lockwood-Powell and 1B Joe Vetrano led off with walks. 2B Sean McLain followed by HBP to load the bases with nobody out. CF Kendall George hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring GLP and Vetrano moved to 3rd. George stole 2B (16) and RF Josue De Paula walked to load the bases with one out. The threat with just one run when 3B Kyle Nevin and DH Zyhir Hope both struck out.
In the 6th inning, LHRP Maddux Bruns walked 4 allowing a run.
Tulsa put up 3 in the bottom of the 6th. 3B Kyle Nevin (4) and SS Elijah Hainline (4) both hit solo HRs. Later in the inning, with one out, LF Chris Newell singled, GLP and Vetrano walked, and McLain was HBP for a 2nd time in the game to score Newell. George hit a ground out with Newell scoring.
LHRP Evan Shaw pitched a scoreless 7th.
In the bottom of the 7th, De Paula, Nevin, and Hope each singled with De Paula scoring. Hainline drew a BB and to load the bases. Nevin and Hope each scored on a fielding error to tie the score at 7-7.
With Shaw going back out in the 8th, he got two quick outs, but then gave up a single and double for the go ahead run. LHRP Christian Suarez finished the inning and pitched a scoreless 9th.
Unfortunately Tulsa could not muster enough offense in the final 2 innings to get the 8th run, and they went down 8-7.
Kyle Nevin was the lone Tulsa batter to get 2 hits.
Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals) 11 – Great Lakes Loons 1
This was a forgettable game. Two of the better Loons pitchers, LHSP Jakob Wright and RHSP Aidan Foeller pitched poorly in this one.
- Jakob Wright – 3.1 IP, 6 runs (all earned), 8 hits, 1 BB, 5 K
- Aidan Foeller – 4.0 IP, 5 runs (2 earned), 4 hits, 2 BB, 6 K, 2 HR
Things did not go much better for the offense. The Loons got 6 hits, including one triple by 2B Nico Perez (1).

Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres) 12 – Ontario Tower Buzzers 9 – 10 innings
And yet another poor pitching performance from an affiliate. 6 pitchers allowed 12 runs (11earned), 19 hits including 3 HR, 6 BB, with 9 K. But in this one, the offense turned this one into a back and forth high scoring affair.
RHSP Hyun-Seok Jang gave up a 2-run HR in the 2nd for a quick 2-0 lead.
Ontario answered back in the bottom of the 2nd. 1B Easton Shelton led off with a BB. 2B Mairo Martinus followed with a single. With one out, DH Jose D. Hernandez singled to load the bases. With 2 outs, CF Jaron Elkins hit a 2 run single.
With Jang still on the bump in the 4th, he allowed a single, SB, and run scoring single before RHRP Jholbran Herder relieved Jang to finish the inning.
Herder gave up a HR in the 5th to give the Storm a 4-2 lead.
In the 5th, with 2 outs, RF Ching-Hsien Ko walked and came home on Shelton’s 2-run HR (4) to tie the score.
Ontario took a brief lead in the 6th with C Conner O’Neal’s 2nd HR.
After pitching a scoreless 6th inning, RHRP Seamus Barrett returned to pitch in the 7th. He allowed a double, run scoring single, WP, another run scoring single, and was removed for RHRP Jhonny Jimenez. Jimenez walked the next batter, and allowed another run scoring single, giving Lake Elsinore a 7-5 lead.
Ontario bounced back in the bottom of the 8th. With one out Martinus singled and moved to 2nd on O’Neal’s BB. Hernandez slugged a 3-run HR (4), giving Ontario an 8-7 lead.
Down to one out for the win, RHRP Robby Porco issued a BB and gave up a 2-run HR and the lead.
Doubles in the 9th by 3B Emil Morales and Martinus tied the game at 9-9.
In the 10th, RHRP Domingo Geronimo gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 1 BB, giving Lake Elsinore a 12-9 lead.
In the home half of the 10th, Ontario got one back when LF AJ Soldra drove home the placed runner.

ACL Dodgers Did Not Play Sunday
They probably wish they did not play on Saturday. They lost 24-6 to ACL Seattle. 5 pitchers allowed 24 runs on 11 hits, 19 BB, and 4 K, while 3 other pitchers did not allow a run, on 3 hits, 2 BB, 6 K, also in 4.0 IP.
They play ACL Rangers on Monday.

They just built that new ballpark, and it cost a lot. Ontario isn’t that bad, and it is pretty close to Rancho where they were before. Besides, there is an airport there. Can fly players to the higher levels pretty easily.
LA picked up 1/2 game on the idle Padres and lead by 1. Roberts just confirmed that Ohtani will pitch, but not DH in tomorrow’s game. I think today’s performance had a lot to do with that decision.
Dodgers struck out 11 times. Shohei and Max only hitters without a hit. 15 Astros struck out.

I made what I considered an offer that would do it. It included several prospects, the Ontario franchise, nobody likes Ontario, and Timmons, and he would’ve ok’d it if it brought Skenes to LA. Nobody here commented on it. Bluto might’ve. Not sure.

FYI: Edwin Díaz had elbow surgery to remove loose bodies. The team said he’s expected to return in the second half of the 2026 season. The rough timeline floating around is about ~3 months out. In practical baseball terms, likely after the All-Star break.
Bats waking up. Smith, Tucker, Freeman, and Freeland with 2 hits each. Tucker and Freeland with homers so far. 11 hits in 5 innings. Freeman struck out his first two at bats, 2 hits and 2 ribbies since. Muncy and Ohtani only hitters without a hit, but they have 4 walks between them.

I’m more interested in why it changed, not what a random order would be,
Last year I was among many who played GM and thought that it would be good to get Will Smith some reps at third. Smith is one of my favorite players and is deservingly an all star catcher. No one can predict what Rushing will do down the line but we all can predict that next year Smith will be a year older. The Dodgers have Smith in the fold for a long time. The wear and tear on a catcher is proven. I really like how the Dodgers are giving Smith nights off but it hurts not having his bat in the lineup. The Dodgers have Muncy this season and next season if both sides agree on the option in his contract. The Dodgers could use the abundance they have in outfielders and middle infielders and go get another catcher. Hopefully one that is a year or two away from the show or a solid backup catcher. There is no denying that Crushing deserves all the AB’s that he’s getting but when we get into late August, September plus post season, we need Smith’s bat in the lineup on a regular basis. I’m not sure when the last time I was so tuned up for a series in early May as I’m wanting the Dodgers busting this series.
Just did with the current lineup: Tucker Smith Kim Ohtani Muncy Pages Freeman Hernandez Freeland Bet that lineup could score 4, which is as many as they have scored in the last week.
They could draw names out of a hat with this lineup.
