162-0 is Still the Goal!

Still undefeated! The Dodgers’ goal is to go 162-0 and then sweep the playoffs. It has never been done… nor will it, but it’s nice to have goals. If you are new to this site, I do not do game summaries. You can find them in a thousand other places, but my favorite is “Gameday”…

Still undefeated! The Dodgers’ goal is to go 162-0 and then sweep the playoffs. It has never been done… nor will it, but it’s nice to have goals. If you are new to this site, I do not do game summaries. You can find them in a thousand other places, but my favorite is “Gameday” on the Dodgers site.

I have a few takeaways from the game:

  • Tommy Tanks is a guy I want on my team. All of his career, he has been preparing to be a Dodger. I look for a career year from him.
  • Ben Casparius is a key bullpen piece. We will see him a lot this year.
  • I predicted that Michael Conforto would get a little over 400 ABs before the season, which means that he will sit against tough LHP, even though he had reverse splits last year. That was a fluke.
  • It was good to see the Dodgers get to the best LHP in baseball last night.
  • Tonight we get to see Yoshi Yamamoto against old friend Jack Flaherty.

OKC Comets – Roster

Nick Frasso is scheduled to be the Opening Day Starter for the Comets Tonight is Sugar Land, Texas.

Old Friends

  • Two former Dodgers started for the White Sox: Miguel Vargas (3B) led off and was 2-4 and had a double, while Jacob Amaya (SS) was 1-4 with a run scored. Jordan Leasure also came in for relief. He came in for 2/3 of an inning and allowed a hit and a walk.
  • Michael Busch was 2-4 with the Cubs.
  • Cody Bellinger was 1-2 with a BB, hitting 3rd for the Yankees.
  • Paul O’Neill homered for the Orioles. This was the SIXTH straight Opening Day on which he has homered.
  • Keibert Ruiz (C) was 2-4 with a HR for the Nats.
  • Cavan Biggio started at 1B for the Royals and was hitless.
  • Gavin Lux was 1-3 (playing LF as I have always advocated)
  • Scott Barlow pitched a hitless inning for the Reds, striking out 2.
  • Grant Holmes (that’s a blast from the past) pitched a hitless inning and struck out 2 for the Braves.
  • Manny Machado was 2-3 with three runs scored and a walk for the Padres.
  • Caleb Ferguson pitched an inning for the Pirates, striking out 1. David Bednar got the loss – remember when everyone wanted to trade for him?

4.1 Challenges per game and 52% were overturned. That is potentially game changing. I would like to see more challenges allowed.

Max looks really bad. heck , Kike might be a better option right now. His defense is better than max’s and he can’t strike out any more! If i’m not mistaken, Taylor didn’t get off the bench in the series against the tigers? It’s early, but the swing and miss on this team is alarming. … nice win without Mookie in the lineup! Tommy E. is a Godsend! … Teo poised for another big year! …. Freddie is going to have a “mvp” type season! …. Conforto will be very good! …… Will Smith looks healthy!…… Sasaki can’t throw strikes! They’ll figure it out. …. i don’t care if ohtani pitches or not ! just keep him healthy! … Gonsolin could be a major contributor for the Dodgers! …. Not ready to give up on Bobby Miller yet!. Clayton has lots of gas left in the tank!!…. Glasnow is nasty!…. Hope the blue devils win it all!!!

Walker Buehler didn’t pitch well in his first game for the Red Sox.and got the loss .He starts the year with an 8.31 ERA.

With an unusual Sunday offday for the Dodgers today,Bobby Miller is on the mound for Oklahoma City today making his first start since being hit in the head early in Spring training. The game is 3:05PM ET.

“The Dodgers received their 2024 World Series rings on Friday night. Dodgers Insider goes into the details and the thought process of the design of this year’s rings.

Among the highlights are eight diamonds for their eight World Series wins, five diamonds for the five runs in the fifth inning of the fifth game, and 34 blue sapphires for Fernando Valenzuela”.

  5. Andrew Vincent ForteMarch 30, 2025

Sasaki might have to make a trip to Oklahoma City for some major adjustments. NO command, velo is down and seems to be a two pitch pitcher. If not, games he ptches will be a full bull pen game. Right now the Dodgers could have better options with Wroboleski or Gonsolin when healthy for his spot in the rotation.

  6. 4-GensMarch 30, 2025

Muncy needs to produce too or be lower in the order. On the bright side is his 1 hit in 4 games this season, is more hits than he had in the 5-games WS.

The Yankees are using new bats this season that move more of the wood into the label area, ensuring that the hardest part of the bat strikes the ball. That means the thickest part of the bat is closer to the middle of it, as opposed to the top barrel part.

The Yankees analytics department found shortstop Anthony Volpe rarely hit balls with the barrel of his bat and was almost always hitting balls in the label area. That prompted the Yankees to have the bats made redistributing the location of the wood.

    This was Mookie’s game…

But Edman showed us why he is a Gold Glover at 2B on at least three plays tonight. Just phenomenal.

can’t wait till Mookie gets his strength back!!! Hopefully Max will make some good contact tonight!!!!! Mookie should share some of what he’s taking with Max!!! ……. 2,bad pitches for yamamoto , both left the yard. Sasaki tonight. Hopefully all his jitters are still in Japan!!! …. And i’m sorry, but AJ Hinch? maybe some day i’ll get past hinch and cora, but probably not! …. Man did Clayton look good out there last night! Still some magic in that arm!! Garvey seemed a little annoyed by all the applause Bulldog got. oh well, he was the best pitcher on the planet in 1988! Steve was my favorite dodger till Kershaw came along. not counting CK. , it’s hard to pick a favorite now. choosing between Mookie, Freddie, Teo, Tommy Edman, Will, Not to mention Snell, Glasnow, May, yamamoto, ohtani, and so on. But if i had to pick a non pitcher, Mookie!!!

Great gritty ass win tonight. Do a deep dive into the last two games and it gets kinda scary for the rest of the league. You can throw your AL Cy Young guy at us, and back him up with Flaherty who threw a helluva game tonight, but this team just keeps grinding, I like the fact that this team is not front runners , they Dawg it out in the late innings and wear you down, just looking for that one opening, and then finish it. They haven’t lost that hunger by no means ,, yeah the Dodgers are stacked , but like Uncle Ned Colletti said a few days ago, in all his 40 years or so in baseball, he has never seen an ownership from the top on down, from Walter’s , to Kasten, to Magic, on down to Freidman and Doc so dedicated to winning every year, an insatiable desire to be the best. This ownership is relentless, and that s what pisses the other MLB owners off, while they line their pockets and go cheap on their players, the Dodgers reinvest in the I infrastructure, constantly building a top 5 farm system and figuring out ways to go under the radar and acquire guys like Tommy Tank , Yamamoto,, who was tendered,, along with Sasaki, If you want to get plugged in to the inner workings of the Dodgers ,hit up AM 570 LA Sports Roggin and Rodney podcast, they have the inside lane on the Dodgers.. David Vasseghe , who is the big time reporter of the team is always on , along with Uncle Ned. Great Dodger insight,

  19. Dan in PasadenaMarch 28, 2025

I hope the crowd acknowledges Jack Flaherty graciously at tonight’s game. He well deserves it for helping win it all in 2024

  20. Old Bear 48March 28, 2025

Treinen did a high wire act in the 9th, but got the job done. Scott gave up a run in his LA debut. Vesia made ONE BAD PITCH.

  21. MushersPopMarch 28, 2025

One thing I’d be curious to see is how far off were the pitches that were overturned. In the fames that I watched, the pitches were pretty close.

Ring ceremony tonight before the game. Can’t wait to see what design the Dodgers came up with. I’m sure it will be exceptional like everything else they do in the organization. Best run team in ALL sports,NOT even a question.

Who Bats Where?

A good percentage of comments on this blog relate to “who bats where” in the batting order. “Shohei should bat cleanup.” “ Freddie should be the number three hitter.” “No, Freddie should hit second.” “Max Muncy should hit cleanup.” “Mookie should hit 9th.” … and on and on… Where…
