OKC Comets 7- Round Rock Express (Texas) 3
OKC jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the 1st. 2B Ryan Fitzpatrick led off with a single, and with one out, 1B Ryan Ward slugged 2-run HR (5). RF James Tibbs III followed with a double (8). CF Zach Ehrhard reached on a E-4. LF Jack Suwinski followed with a 3-run HR (6) and a quick 5-0 lead.
In the 2nd, Fitzpatrick hit his second single, and moved to 3rd on Tibbs III 2-out single. Fitzpatrick scored on a balk.
After retiring the side in order in the 1st, RHSP Christian Romero ran into a little trouble in the 2nd. A single, sac bunt, and single scored one. That was followed by a 2-run HR and the lead was cut in half, 6-3.
The Comets got one more in the 5th. Tibbs III hit his 2nd double of the night, and 9th on the season. That was followed by a HBP and 2 BB to force in a run.
Romero had some traffic in innings 3-5, but no runs. After Romero, RHRP Paul Gervase followed with 2 scoreless innings, with 4 K. RHRP Chayce McDermott and RHRP Jerming Rosario pitched the final 2.0 innings. They faced 6 batters and struck out 5 of them.
- James Tibbs III – 3-4, 1 BB, 2 runs, 2 doubles (9)
- Ryan Fitzpatrick – 2-5, 1 run
Tulsa Drillers 17 – San Antonio Missions (Padres) 7
Some good and bad in this one. The bad? After LHSP Adam Serwinowski had a great start in his last game, he returned to his early season concerns. He completed just 4.0 innings, throwing 85 pitches (53 strikes). He allowed 6 runs (all earned) on 7 hits, 2 BB, and registered 5 K. Adam left trailing 6-4, but that is before the good took over.
Tulsa scored 17 runs on 15 hits and 9 BB. They also benefited from 3 San Antonio errors. Tulsa top 2 hitters were big in this one. They started out in the first inning. RF Josue De Paula singled, stole 2B (8), and scored on DH Zyhir Hope’s double (4).
The Drillers temporarily took the lead in the bottom of the third. LF Chris Newell led off with a triple (1), and scored on a throwing error. 3B Kyle Nevin drew a 2-out BB and scored on Hope’s 4th HR.
San Antonio went back on top with 4 in the 4th, 3 on C Ethan Salas’ HR.
De Paula hit his 2nd HR of the season with one out in the 5th.
Tulsa took the lead for good in the 6th. The big blow was 2B Jake Gelof’s 3-run HR (5). Newell followed with his 2nd HR.
Griffin Lockwood-Powell hit his 3rd HR in the 7th.
The Drillers broke it open in the 8th. CF Kendall George led off with a single and moved to 3rd on Nevin’s 4th double. Hope was IBB. 1B Joe Vetrano cleared the bases with a grand slam (3). Gelof drew a walk and scored ahead of Newell’s 2nd HR of the game (3).
After Serwinowski was lifted, 4 Tulsa pitchers completed 5.0 IP. They allowed 1 run on 4 hits, 3 walks, and 9 K.
Kendall George and Chris Newell each had 3 hits. Josue De Paula, Zyhir Hope and GLP each had a pair of hits. Every Driller’s hitter had a least one hit except Elijah Hainline, but he had 3 BB.
Great Lakes Loons 11 – Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals) 4
RHSP Aidan Foeller struggled in this one. He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, 2 BB, with 6 K in 3.1 IP. LHRP Cody Morse finished the 4th inning and retired the side in the 5th.
But the pitching star on the night was LHSP Jakob Wright. He completed 4.0 scoreless and hitless innings. He did not walk a batter, and struck out 8, including 4 in the 9th. The only baserunner was a batter who struck out, but reached on a WP.
Meanwhile Great Lakes was putting up some offense. They scored 11 runs on 18 hits and 5 BB. DH Eduardo Guerrero was the only Loon without a hit. 7 of the 8 remaining Loons hitters had at least 2 hits.
In the first inning, LF Charles Davalan led off with a single, and scored on RF Mike Sirota’s double (8). CF Eduardo Quintero singled to plate Sirota. With one out, 2B Nico Perez doubled putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. C Jesus Galiz got a 2-out single for 2 more runs.
GL did not score in the 2nd, but scored in the next 4 innings.
In the 3rd, with one out and one on, 1B Jose Meza singled, moving the runner to 3rd. Meza stole 2B (6). One run scored on a WP.
In the 4th, with 2 outs, Quintero walked and scored ahead of 3B Logan Wagner’s HR (7).
A BB, balk, and RBI single by SS Jose Izarra scored on in the 5th.
In the 6th, singles by Sirota, Quintero, Perez, Meza, and Galiz scored 2 more.
In the 8th, Nico Perez hit his 2nd double in the game (6) and scored on Meza’s single for the final tally.
- Eduardo Quintero – 3-4, 1 BB, 3 runs, 1 RBI
- Nico Perez – 3-4, 1 BB, 3 runs, 2 doubles (6)
- Jose Meza – 3-5, 2 RBI

- Jesus Galiz – 2-3, 2 BB, 1 run, 3 RBI
Ontario Tower Buzzers 4 – Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres) 3 – 10 innings
Much better outing for LHSP Blake Snell. He struck out the side in the 1st inning. He allowed a leadoff double in the 2nd, and then proceeded to strike out the side again. He retired the side in order in the third to finish his night. 3.0 IP, 1 hit, 6K.
CF Jaron Elkins led off the 4th with a BB. He stole 2B and scored on LF Ching-Hsein Ko’s double (4) and a 1-0 lead.
RHP Hyun-Seok Jang followed Snell and pitched a competent 4.0 innings. He allowed a run on 2 hits and 1 BB. The run he allowed was from a double followed by a steal of 3rd and home. He also had 5 K.
2B Joendry Vargas led of the 6th with a single. That was followed with 2 BB and a ground out to give Ontario the lead again.
RHRP Will Gagnon followed Jang. He issued a BB, and a 2nd batter reached on catcher interference. A force out put runners on the corners. The runner on 1st stole 2B. A single plated both Storm runners and a 3-2 lead.
Down 3-2 in the 9th Ko slugged a game tying HR (3) to force extra innings.
RHRP Jecsua Liborius did not allow a run in the 10th. He completed 2.1 scoreless innings.
In the bottom of the 10th, DH AJ Soldra was the placed runner. On a ground out, Soldra moved to 3rd. Soldra would later score on a balk for the walk off win.

Sam Miller has the BEST writing on this! https://pebblehunting.substack.com/p/new-bat-drop-just-dropped https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19522870/major-league-litter-strategic-bat-toss-turn-trash-treasure https://pebblehunting.substack.com/p/a-multiverse-theory-of-baseball
As these players age, they may only play 125 games or less. That is why you have to have a strong bench to fill in those spots. With days off also, aging players would be able to handle the stress of a 162 game season.
Quick little hit about the Dodgers Low-A prospects: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-prospects-making-arguments-for-promotions-in-2026-prospect-podcast/ Morales, Vargas, Ko, as well as Harlan, Dylan Smith and others get their names dropped.
Give Tucker a day off
Mute button again today!!!
Needs to be activated before May 22. He has three more potential starts to get up to potential 7 innings and 90 pitches. Depending on Sasaki, they may be happy with 5.0 and 75..
OBP is more important. I think the Dodgers run the bases well enough, but at this stage the only real speed appears to be Kim and Ohtani. This is a slugging team
At this point I’d rather watch Cats the musical over this Dodger offense
This is a comment from a Red Sox board I enjoy. Sound familiar? Incredible. The pitching program can’t get injured guys healthy or keep healthy guys healthy.
According to this article he had a setback https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/mookie-betts-suffered-setback-recovery-180450486.html
Tucker has wheels. Unfortunately we’ve rarely been able to witness it this year.
Roberts continues to take the bat out of Ohtani’s hands with these bunt attempts. If Rojas had got the bunt down the other night he would have been walked then too. At least they were only down 1 tonight when he did it but with Freeman slumping I don’t love it.
Freeman’s AB are a tough watch of late. PS: A post of mine is not showing up PPS: via Chad M- Since the start of 2024, the Dodgers have the second-best offense in baseball (116 wRC+), and in that same time they are 28th with the bases loaded (78 wRC+). It’s actually worse since 2025, but 2024 gives a sample size over 300 PA. Remarkable.
This os a shit-ass offense right now. Hate to say it, but looking like we ride Freeman through 2027 then replace from within. DePaula & Tibbs for Teo & FF.
I remember last year was brutal at times.
Way too soon to make that decision.
Just overreacting We’re stuck in 3rd gear
Compare his strikeouts please.
Freemans whole demeaner looks like he is ill
Another loss to an inferior team. Disheartening.
SD just lost to the Cubs 5-4 this afternoon. Maintain a half game lead in first place. Need tomorrow off to regroup.Cardinals and Astros next in a short six game road trip.
Finished 6-7 against the Rockies,Giants,Cubs and Marlins.
Freddie is just not Freddie right now. I think even Bobby Miller could shut down this offense right now. Even while he’s injured.
At the beginning of the season, the commentators mentioned how much better Pages was at the plate. not lunging as much, keeping his balance but no longer. He looks like he will lose his footing almost every swing. And he’s not hitting any more. Both Teo and Freddie look like they have forgotten how to hit. Tucker has a long loopy swing and swings at the first pitch all the time. I thought he was supposed to be a high OBP guy with a good eye who will take walk but how do you do that if you swing at the first pitch? I know it’s a long season and players go into slumps and all of that. But there are too many hitters who look terrible up there. Right now, Ohtani, Smith, Rushing, Muncy, and Rojas are hitting. No one else. And it’s not enough. Since leaving Colorado, they scored 34 runs in 9 games and that includes 12 vs Chicago. 3.8 R/G. I know of no solutions. I am not enamored with most of the bench. Espinal and Call are mediocre. I know you don’t have stars sitting on your bench. But I wonder if it makes more sense to have guys like Tibbs as 4th OF than Call? (I know they want a RHH 4th OF.) Espinal will be gone when Mookie returns (or one of Kim/ Freeland will be sent down). How do you shake it up?
Espinal will go first Kike is due back by the end of May, then Edman soon after that. Betts just now starting to hit again. When all three are healthy, Kim and Freeland are the odd-men out.
