OKC Comets 6 – Salt Lake City Bees (LAA) 5

Before the seats got warm, with RHSP Cole Irvin on the bump, SLC had a 1-0 lead after a leadoff double and RBI single. 

OKC got the run back in the bottom of the 1^st.  3B Kiké Hernández had a one-out single, and 1B Ryan Ward hit a RBI double.

SLC took the lead in the third with a leadoff double and single.  After one out, Irvin got the ground ball but could only get a force out with a run scoring. 

OKC took the lead for good in the 4^th, scoring 5 unearned runs. With one out,  LF Jack Suwinski reached 2B on a E7.  Suwinski scored on SS Noah Miller’s RBI single.  Miller stole 2^nd and scored on DH Nick Senzel’s RBI single.  C Chuckie Robinson singled and 3 runs scored on 2B Ryan Fitzgerald’s 3-run HR and a 6-2 lead.

In the 6^th, with one out, a SLC batter reached on an error, that was followed by a single and BB to load the bases.  SLC’s next batter hit a two run single, and Irvin was lifted for LHRP Ronan Kopp who got the DP to end the threat.

With RHRP Jerming Rosario pitching, SLC scored in the 8^th to pull within one. In the 9^th, Rosario allowed a leadoff single, struck the next 2 batters out, and walked the next one.  RHRP Wyatt Mills relieved Rosario and walked the first batter he faced to load the bases.  He got CT3 to fly out to end the game.

Noah Miller was the only Comet to have two hits.

Arkansas Travelers (Seattle) 9 – Tulsa Drillers 2

After being named Texas League Pitcher of the Month for April, RHSP Patrick Copen had his worst outing of the year…by far.  In 4.2 IP, Copen allowed 9 runs (all earned) on 9 hits, 5 BB, and 9 K.  He surrendered 2 HR, a solo HR and 3-run HR.  He also allowed a pair of doubles.  Copen was lifted after the 3-run HR.

In the 7^th. RF Zyhir Hope walked and scored on 1B Joe Vetrano’s 4^th HR.

After Copen was lifted, 4 relievers finished the final 3.1 scoreless IP.

Lake County Captains (Cleveland) 15 – Great Lakes Loons 13 –– Game 1, 8 Innings

This was a game filled with large, crooked innings, and multiple lead changes.

LHSP Sterling Patick had a very rough start.  In the 1^st inning, two walks and a single loaded the bases.  It was a balk that brought in the first run.

Down 1-0 in the 2^nd, 1B Jose Meza led off with a single.  With 1 out, 3B Eduardo Guerrero drew a BB.  Meza and Guerrero pulled off a double steal.  SS Jose Izarra hit a sac fly for the tying run.  After LF Charles Davalan walked, CF Mike Sirota singled home Guerrero and a 2-1 lead.  The third run scored after an E5.

LC tied the score in the 3^rd after a 2 out single and 2-run HR.

GL went back in front in the 4^th.  Guerrero led off with a single, and Izarra reached on an error.  After a ground out, Sirota hit a 3-run HR.  RF Eduardo Quintero drew a walk, and with 2 outs, 2B Nico Perez doubled him home and a 7-3 lead.

That lead was short-lived.  With Patick still on the mound, there was a BB, single, and 3-run HR.  Patick was done for the day without recording an out in the 4^th.  RHRP Nicolas Cruz was summoned. Cruz was welcomed with 5 singles, a double, a WP, and a balk allowing 6 runs to score.  LC took a 12-7 lead.

Great Lakes tied it up in the 6^th with 5 runs.  Davalan was HBP and Sirota and Quintero both walked.  Davalan scored on DH Logan Wagner’s SF, with Sirota going to 3B.  Quintero stole 2^nd.  Perez doubled (9) home both runners.  C Jesus Galiz drew a BB and Guerrero doubled (4) home the final 2 baserunners and a 12-12 tie.

With Logan Wagner as the placed runner, Meza singled him home.  With RHRP Reynaldo Yean on the mound and a runner at 2B, he walked the first batter.  After an out was recorded, Yean gave up a 3-run HR, and Lake County won Game 1 15-13.

Great Lakes Loons 7 – Lake County Captains (Cleveland) 2, Game 2, 7 Innings

RHSP Logan Tabeling is having a good May with back to back excellent starts. 

GL jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1^st. RF Mike Sirota led off with a BB and scored on LF Eduardo Quintero’s RBI double.  Quintero scored on DH Logan Wagner’s RBI single. 

In the 3^rd, Quintero led off with a ground rule double (4), and scored on a 2-out double (10) by 2B Nico Perez upping the score to 3-0.

In the 4^th, Lake County had a single and run scoring double off Tabeling.

In the 5^th, GL got the run back.  Sirota led off with a BB, stole 2B, and moved to 3B on a ground out.  CF Charles Davalan hit a sac fly.

In the 6^th, with 2 outs, 3B Eduardo Guerrero and 1B Samuel Munoz drew BBs.  SS Jose Izarra hit a 3-run HR to widen the lead to 7-1. 

In the 6^th, Tabeling struck out the leadoff hitter and was relieved by LHRP Matt Lanzendorfer.  The first batter Lanzendorfer faced hit a HR.  That was the final score for either team.

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (LAA) 2 – Ontario Tower Buzzers 1

This was a well-pitched game for low A.  RHP Isaac Ayon went the first 5.1 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 BB, and 5 K.  Unfortunately for Ayon and Ontario one of those hits in the 6^th was a leadoff HR.  A 2^nd unearned run scored in the 6^th.

Ontario scored an unearned run of their own in the 7^th when 1B Jose D. Hernandez singled home C Anson Aroz who reached on an error. 

RHRP Jholbran Herder and RHRP Jhonny Jimenez pitched the final 2.2 innings without a run or hit. Okay they did give up 2 BB and struck out 3.

Pitching was good, but the offense???  3B Chase Harlan was 1-2 with a 2 BB, and SS Emil Morales hit his 14^th double.

Royals ACL 13 – Dodgers ACL 12 – 10 innings

Royals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1^st.  Dodgers put up the next 9 with 4 in the 3^rd and 5 in the 4^th.

The Dodgers hit 2 solo HR by LF Elias Medina and 3B Bryan Gonzalez Garcia.  CF Landyn Vidourek hit a 2-run HR.

The first five batters in the 4^th hit 3 doubles and 2 singles plated 4.  A SB and 2 WP scored a 5^th run. C Francisco Espinoza, Medina, and Gonzalez hit the run scoring doubles.

In the 6^th, the Royals had 1-out back to back singles that moved up on a WP and both scored on a single.  Two walks to load the bases and a double cleared the bases.  The Dodgers held a 9-8 lead after 6.

The Dodgers got two more in the 7^th after a HBP, walk, WP and DH Aidan West’s double brought both runners home.

The Royals scored 2 in the 8^th and one in the 9^th to force the game into extra innings.

Gonzalez hit his 2^nd double and plated a go-ahead run in the 10^th.

The Royals scored 2 in the bottom of the 10^th for the win.
