During this 4-14 losing streak, the Dodgers have only have three problems:
- They can’t pitch;
- They can’t hit; and
- They can’t field.
Last night, the fielding was OK, so the only problems were that they could not hit or pitch. It’s getting better! Mookie is showing signs of breaking out with two hits, including a home run. I will not call anyone who disagrees with me a moron or an idiot. I would just say they have bad luck when it comes to thinking. When you resort to name-calling, it only solidifies the fact that your argument is so shallow that you feel you have to resort to slander to obfuscate your shortcomings. I wonder…
Julio Urias did not look good last night. He wasn’t nibbling – he was just getting hit, so they brought in Gas Can Kelly who looked like he had never pitched… ever! I am not taking anything away from one game, but this will pass at some point. It is a malaise that seems to envelop every aspect of the team. Maybe they gave them the wrong vaccine. I just wish this hurries up and gets over with. Tonight Clayton gets a chance to redeem himself from his last bad outing.
Minor League Overview
- OKC was beaten like a rented mule, 15-6. Estevez and Raley both hit HR and Peters was 2-5. A bunch of batting practice pitchers were cannon fodder. Move on nothing to see here, folks.
- Tulsa beat the Sod Poodles 12-3. Mike Busch was 2-4 with a BB and 3 runs scored (hitting #2). Devin Mann was 3-4 with 4 RBI, and Jeren Kendall was 2-4 with 4 RBI, including a 3-run HR in the first inning. Varland, Zuniga, Ochsenbein, and Washington pitched 6 scoreless innings, but Rooney gave up 3 Runs and 3 BB in his 3 IP while striking out 5.
- Great Lakes lost to the Dayton Dragons 9-5. Pages was 2-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Pages, Outman, Vargas, and Ward all doubled. Clayton Beeter pitched the first inning with 2 K’s, not giving up a run, but Gamboa, Little, Widell, and Mokma gave up 9 runs in the other 8 innings.
- Rancho Cucamonga did not lose and they did not play. The game was postponed due to rain.
More from Dodger Talk

Dodgers Food Trailer
I did this interview a couple of weeks ago with Chef Mike, who runs the Dodgers Food Trailer for the Great Lakes Loons. They are there for every home and road regular season and playoff game. They prepare three meals a day for approximately 50 people (players and coaches). Since games end late most evenings, they do not prepare breakfast. Many of their hotels have a complimentary breakfast anyway. However,…

Meet LAD 2026 Draft Picks 1-12
3 picks were High School players (2 SS and 1 OF). There was a college OF, college catcher, college SS, and 10 college pitchers. Of all the talk for a need for a catcher, the only catcher the Dodgers selected was Luke Bard, son of LAD bullpen coach Josh Bard. Bard was a 4th year senior from Houston Christian University. He is not a prospect, so the Dodgers are still…

Interview with Paul Beachy – Team Bus Driver For The Great Lakes Loons (LA Dodgers Minor League Team)
It’s been a few days since I did this interview. We have evidently been working my son-in-law (the video guy) like a rented mule at US Water Systems. However, I am taking him to London with me in a few days, so maybe Watford will buy him a pint as a tip, but he’s a dang Red Sox fan, so there is that! I thought that it would be interesting…

Thanks for Your Service: Chris Taylor
I was going to do this post when Chris announced he was retiring, then he changed his mind, but since the chances of him ever playing for the Dodgers again are slim and non-existent, I will go ahead with this post. He unretired, went on the IL, then decided to call it quits on May 24th. Taylor was born in Virginia Beach VA on August 29th, 1990. He attended Great…

Disagree, not disagreeable
The Dodgers had a 13-0 lead when Kershaw was removed, and when also key players were removed from the game by BOTH managers. Honestly, an A-ball bullpen should have been sufficient.
My God this redhead on MLBN right now is killing me.
Okay, I can see the logic of pulling Kershaw. They wanted to get guys some work with another off day on Monday. Didn’t want that pen to get rusty I guess. Kershaw’s schedule is very uneven with the short start followed by short rest. I bet he’s pissed because he wants to keep building his pitch count.
White’s 6 unearned runs and Santana is starting to look like he wants to go back to the minors. It’s sucks that his stuff is so dirty, but he command is horrible. Too many fat strikes. I really didn’t watch White pitch since I lost interest after we were up by a dozen.
Gonzalez and Treinen are going to have to carry a heavy load.
Tonight was extra sweet. I watched the game at my neighbor’s house who was hosting my son’s and bride to be’s couple’s wedding shower. It was mostly Angeles fans but split pretty close. Not a lot of trash talking, more like a contest on who’s team is playing crappier.
It was funny starting bottom of the sixth, you could see Orel was starting to worry they would blow it. He could see what was coming.
BTW the Rancho game wasn’t rained out. It’s Southern CA, we don’t have those here. A player on the 66ers tested positive. Game was called about 20 minutes before first pitch. I know; because we were there lol.
They put the Dodger Angel game on the big screen. We stayed for a bit since we were already there. So obviously the night just got worse.
Just left tonight’s Dodger Angel game. The bats woke up. DJ Peters finally got his first hit out of the way (it was a line drive in the box score). Proud of the kid. We were glad we got to see that. But had the Dodgers blown a 13 run lead, I’m not sure exactly what I would have done.
Taken up lacrosse as a fan or something.
Comical is the word all right.
Even with a 13-0 lead, the Dodgers almost found a way to lose.
The game summed up the season: Dodgers blast off to a big lead… and then nearly lose all of it.
And the Rojas tag added injury to the insult.
We could feel Mookie’s pain.
Dodgers have one move and an open spot they can make on the 40 man roster when they put Dustin May on the 60 Day IL after TJ surgery on May 11. Wonder if they sign Greene the reliever or bring up a starting pitcher or position player from the minor league teams? They badly need bullpen help and a right handed bat if Pollock is going to be out for a significant amount of time with the hamstring injury. I’m hoping that Peters can be that guy. We’ll see.
Well I told u the bullpen would make it close. Santana, white, clevinger shouldn’t be in the majors at least all 3 at the same time.
However, I pin most of this on doc. He is so arrogant, no urgency, and dumbass decisions again. 1. Kershaw should have gone at least 6. Knowing he has a terrible bullpen kersh on a low pitch count just don’t assume anything. 2. You cannot leave guys out there to turn a 13 run lead into a save situation. I knew he would. He turns what should have been a happy clubhouse win into an embarrassing save situation. 3. This is the mlb doc don’t try a guy at first base in the middle of the season like he did Joc. Don’t give guys a month off in September and almost blow the division. U could go on and on with his arrogant attitude.
I know some of you say kershaw could have gotten hurt. True anybody can but after going one inning he was well rested and one more inning could be huge. The fact that as usual doc has no urgency to win today. I can hear him now” we competed hard I tip my hat to the guys over there they never quit”
The fact the Angels took players out has no bearing on what we do. U have to know your team and our bullpen is horrible. I will say AF has to take some blame. Put mlb players in the bullpen whether doc knows how to use them or not. Where is floro when u need him?
