I wasn’t around much yesterday, but this morning, I read several things that were funny, silly, crazy, and mostly just plain wrong… to the point that I have to address them:
#1 – That I have a deep hatred of Eric: That’s funny, silly, crazy, and mostly just plain wrong. I actually like the guy, but I am not afraid to call him out. The hatred part is simply his imagination running wild – no matter how much he wants to feel persecuted… That’s all I will say about it. I, too, think James Outman will be back this year, probably in the next four to six weeks. I also agree with Eric about the structure of this team. I have not lost hope at all. I think Doc is running the team like a Country Club right about now. “No urgency, just show up – well turn up the volume later. Let’s not peak now, please! Leave it on cruise control until after the All-Star Game. We’re trying something different this year!” Now, the Dodgers won’t say that, but I truly think they are just chilling!
#2 – Playing SS is wearing Mookie down: Huh? Why doesn’t it wear others down? You actually run more in the outfield than at SS. Now, I am not against getting a top-tier SS, but I am also fine with Mookie at SS and Gavin Lux at 2B if he starts hitting, and he had two hits last night. Mookie wasn’t playing SS much last year when he hit .235 in April and .269 in May. He then hit .309 in June, .305 in July, and .455 in August, before hitting .244 in September and October. Mookie is just incredibly streaky – when he gets in the groove, he is able to repeat it for a long time. That’s why he has bowled multiple 300 games, and when he is cold, he is cold. He started hot this year and hit .368 in March and April. He is at .276 in May. He will probably hit .400 next month. That’s just Mookie. To blame it on playing SS is simply creating a false assumption.
#3 – The Dodgers should trade for CJ Abrams: The kid is a blooming superstar. He’s still raw and getting stronger, but I do not think a package of Rushing, Vargas, DePaula, Vargas 2, Miller, and Knack would be enough to pry him away from the Nats who are grooming him to be the face of their franchise. It ain’t happening! That is funny, silly, and crazy!
#4 – The Hating on Lindor – MLB ranks SS in Tiers. Tier 1: Bobby Witt Jr., Trea Turner/ Tier 2: Corey Seager, Francisco Lindor, Bo Bichette, Elly De La Cruz, CJ Abrams. Lindor has not done great in NY. I happen to think he’s more of an LA Kind of Guy, and with Mookie and RVS, he would return to his old self. $237 Million in nothing nowadays! He has rarely been injured – He averages over 150 games a year and is younger than Mookie. The Dodgers owe Mookie about the same amount! I would take Lindor in a heartbeat over Bichette, but I would also consider Bichette. However, Lindor is elite defensively. Bo is not! Now, I do understand that most of these proposed trades by fans never happen… so there is that.
Last night’s game actually gave me more hope in Striker Buehler. I think he will be Top Tier in a month. I also was happy to see Pages and Lux each get two hits… at the expense of anyone else hitting. 😉 It would be great if they could get going! This is a game of adjustments. Banda and Y-Ramirez also looked good. I can’t see the Dodgers needing any bullpen help unless disaster strikes with so many arms on the IL that should be back. However, it is looking more and more like the Bazooka will miss the season.
Max Muncy’s oblique is not responding. I listened to Doc yesterday, and he said the Medical Staff had diagnosed it as a Grade 1, but maybe it is worse. He tried swinging a bat this week and was shut down. I do not expect to see him until after the All-Star Game. Therefore, let’s see what Andre Lipcuis can do. I am not convinced he is a real prospect, but if you leave him at OKC, you will never know.
The problem with OKC is that the air is pretty thin in places… especially where they are right now: Albuquerque! They scored 14 runs there last night, 11 on Thursday night, 6 on Wednesday, and 6 on Tuesday. So, when I hear Outman was 4-6 and Lipcuis was 3-6, I have to take that with a grain of caution. In LA, they may have been 0-fer! The PCL confuses everything. Maybe the club is changing their name from “Dodgers” to something else because they know the Dodgers are leaving the PCL and moving to Indianapolis, where the air is heavier. I can dream, can’t I? I would buy a suite if they did.

Disagree, not disagreeable
Can someone explain what this ‘country club” or “cruise control” means? Not enough arguing? Throwing tantrums? Bunting?
First on Buehler. He had 2 outs and they scored 3. In my opinion Rojas should have handled the ball down at third that would have been 3 outs inning over. So I feel like he gave up the homer. As much as he struggled with command I feel he only allowed 1 earned.
Lindor is a fine player he is just not going to be a Dodger. It would turn out to be him or lux. He is better than lux but that is one of the mlb worst contracts. Not happening.
Pages got 2 hits but at the most critical juncture he struck out. That is a playoff at bat and predictably he struck out. He is not the only one but Hernandez, Muncy, Ohtani are going to strike out we don’t need more of that. That is why outman doesn’t fit with 35 percent k.
It’s a long way from playoffs but Betts is so streaky hot or cold. As a leadoff hitter I wish he would quit swinging at so many first pitches. He can work the count better than anyone we have. It is such a downer to c him , Ohtani, and Freddie go 1,2,3 on less than 10 pitches. I have never seen freemen strike out and swing at pitches out of the zone more than this season. Mb it is because I am watching more games but he has been disappointing.
The Dodgers always seem to be on cruise control. Never any urgency. One of the worst pitchers in the game make them look terrible. Ho hum rinse, wash, repeat.
Buehler wasn’t as sharp last night but still managed to get through 6 innings. He also was not helped much by the defense in the third inning. The first hit should have been an error on Rojas as he misplayed an 81 mph ground ball hit right at him. Later Teoscar should have thrown out the runner at 3rd base on a Bryant single. And then Pages turned a single into a triple. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Rojas play changed to an error and Buehler only charged with one earned run for the game.
The Dodgers are NOT doing the Lindor trade . Bichette is a better and cheaper trade option. Lux ,Knack and another player for Bichette.
The Dodgers do miss Muncy’s Left handed bat in the lineup,
i would do the Lindor trade but , give Lux around 15 more games before trading for lindor. …. I agree Mark, bring up Lipcuis now! you never know! …. What’s going on in dodger stadium?? A pitcher with an ERA of almost 6 looks like Cy Young!! Flip ohthani and Freddie, or maybe even put Will in the 3 spot and Ohtani cleanup! Shake it up Doc!! …. Maybe Doc should hug the hitters!!! Why do broadcasters put a “y” on every player s name? Vargy, miggy, etc. I guess NERDY Nelson can’t help himself!! AWFUL in the boothy!!
Joendry Vargas went 4-5 with a BB and a HR yesterday. Now hitting .360. Kid could be really special (just like dePaula who got two hits yesterday and now batting a respectable .260 after staring very slow) and hopefully the Dodgers will put him on the fast track. Could use a ss badly.
I too see a country club atmosphere around the Dodgers this season. If so, then please stick M.Vargas at 3b to get his bat into the lineup every day. He has played 2b and 3b before and though not a magician in the field he should be able to handle the position with a country club ballclub.
