OKC and Sugar Land took a scoreless tie into the 4th inning when OKC erupted for a crooked number. 3B Tyler Fitzgerald hit a one out double (5) that was followed by a BB to LF Ryan Fitzgerald. With 2 outs C Eliézer Alfonzo singled to load the bases. RF Zach Ehrhard singled home a pair, and leadoff hitter DH James Tibbs III hit a 3-run HR (12).
In the 5th, CF Jack Suwinski and the 2 Fitzgeralds drew 7 out walks to load the bases. SS Noah Miller followed with a grand slam (7), and a 9-0 lead.
Meanwhile RHSP Christian Romero was breezing through 5.1 innings allowing 2 singles with 1 BB and 6K before giving up a solo HR for the his only run allowed. After the HR, Romero issued his 2nd BB and was lifted for RHRP Keynan Middleton. Middleton induced a GIDP from the first batter he faced to end the inning.
The scored remained 9-1 until the 9th. Suwinski led off with a single, followed by a single from T. Fitzgerald. R. Fitzgerald had an RBI double with T. Fitzgerald to 3B. T. Fitzgerald scored on a SF, and R. Fitzgerald moved to 3B where he scored on a ground out.
Middleton, LHRP Antoine Kelly, and RHRP Griff McGarry each pitched a scoreless inning to complete the win.

Tulsa Drillers Did Not Play
Great Lakes Loons 14 – Dayton Dragons (Reds) 3
The Loons scored 14 runs on 16 hits and 11 BB. Every GL batter reached base and only RF Eduardo Quintero did not get a hit.
GL took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. CF Chuck Davalan led off with a single, and 19 year old SS Emil Morales hit his 1st A+ HR.
GL doubled their score in the 3rd with Quintero drawing a leadoff BB. 2B Nico Perez hit an RBI double (12) and scored on DH Jose Meza’s single.
LHSP Sterling Patick grinded out 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing 6 hits and issuing 2 BB while striking out 4. With one out in the 5th, he gave up a double and HBP before RHRP Davis Chastain relieved him. Chastain got the next two batters, one on a K to complete the 5th.
RHRP Isaac Ayon entered in the 6th. Ayon gave up a run scoring triple. It was an unearned run, cutting the lead to 4-1.
In the 7th, Davalan led off with a double (10), and Morales singled him to 3B. With 1 out, Perez walked to load the bases. LF Kole Myers hit a bases clearing triple (1) and scored on an RBI single from 1B Eduardo Guerrero.
Ayon gave up a HR in the 7th, dropping the lead to 8-2.
In the 9th. GL broke it completely open. Myers and Meza led off with BB, and C Victor Rodrigues singled to fill up the bases. Myers scored on a force out with Meza to 3B. Meza scored on a 3B Jose Izarra single. After Davalan walked to load the bases for the third time in the inning, Morales slugged his 2nd HR (2) of the game, this one a grand slam.
Ayon came out for a 4th inning. After a lead off BB and single, RHRP Reynaldo Yean relieved Ayon. Yean walked the 1st batter he faced to load the bases for the Dragons. 1 run scored on a GIDP before Yean got the final out to secure the win.

Ontario Tower Buzzers 6 – Visalia Rawhide (Dbacks) 4
RHSP Brady Smith walked the 1st batter he faced and that was followed by a 2-run HR. After that, for the next 4 innings, he did not allow another hit, and walked one. Smith struck out 3 and threw 58 pitches (39 strikes).
Visalia took the 2-0 lead into the 6th inning. 1B Mairo Martinus drew a BB and moved to 2nd on a single from 2B Kellon Lindsey. After RF Ching-Hsien Ko ground out, 3B Chase Harlan hit a 3-run HR (5), giving Ontario a 3-2 lead.
In the 7th, Ontario got a 4th run after CF Landyn Vidourek doubled and scored after 2 WP.
In his 4th inning, RHRP Luis Carias struck out the 1st two batters, then walked the next followed with a 2-run game tying HR.
But the Tower Buzzers came up with some magic of their own in the bottom of the 9th. Vidourek led off with a BB, and with 1 out, Aroz hit a walk off HR (2) for the win.

ACL Dodgers 11 – ACL Guardians 10 (7 innings)
After the Guardians took a 3-0 lead in the 1st, 3B Moises Boliver hit a grand slam (3) for a 4-3 lead. The Dodgers picked up 2 more in the 1st after a BB and doubles from LF Able Lorenzo and C Bryan Gonzalez Garcia.
In the 2nd, a BB, HBP, and player reaches on scoring error for the 7th run. 2B Daniel Mielcarek walked to load the bases. Another run scored on a Lorenzo SF. A WP and singles from Garcia and CF Jhon Gil scored 2 more.
Dodgers pitchers gave up 6 runs to tie the score in the 7th.
In the bottom of the 7th, Garcia stroked a 1 out single, and moved to 2nd on a 2-out balk. Garcia scored the winning run on a Gil walk-off single.

Barrels are overrated.
Somebody mentioned barrels recently. Not knowing what is actually considered a barrel, I looked it up: “To be Barreled, a batted ball requires an exit velocity of at least 98 mph. At that speed, balls struck with a launch angle between 26-30 degrees always garner Barreled classification. For every mph over 98, the range of launch angles expands. For example: A ball traveling 99 mph always earns ‘Barreled’ status when struck between 25-31 degrees. Add one more mph — to reach 100 — and the range grows another three degrees, to 24-33. Every additional mph over 100 increases the range another two to three degrees until an exit velocity of 116 mph is reached. At that threshold, the Barreled designation is assigned to any ball with a launch angle between eight and 50 degrees.” Then I looked up the launch angle of a line drive. According to Baseball Savant it is 10-25 degrees. So, by definition, a 108 mph line drive to the third baseman would not be a barrel. I beg to differ.

Royals DFAd LHP Bailey Falter. Royals sent catcher, Elias Diaz outright to AAA Omaha. Blue jays agreed to a minor league deal with reliever Matt Bowman. Angels signed Alex Faedo to a minor league deal, he is being sent to AAA Salt Lake. Former Braves 3rd baseman, Bob Hoerner passed away at the age of 68. RIP Bob. Hoerner was part of the 2006, College Baseball Hall of Fame class. Austin Slater signed a minor league contract with the Rays. Braves resigned Jose Azocar to a minor league deal.

I would venture a guess Jeff, that if Freeland does well, then when Edman is activated, Kim gets sent to the minors. It gives LA two players who can play against lefties or righties. Kim is not that guy, and his production is not eye popping at all. And remember, they have Alex Tomas down in Arizona should Call or Teo get hurt.
Karros alluded to that last night. At high speed he may not have time to get his hands up resulting in a lot of pop up’s.
Before we get too excited about Mookie, Freeland is left handed and throwing 90 mph fatballs. Let’s see how Mookie does against 95+ mph fastballs. Hopefully the correction of his hand position stops all the soft fly balls to center and right.

Freddie Freeman recently spoke on his updated retirement plans after he and his wife, Chelsea, welcomed their first daughter into the family last month. Freeman originally wanted to play until he turned 40, but after the birth of his fourth child, things may change for the 36-year-old future Hall of Famer.
“Evan Phillips is facing batters in Arizona on Friday and again at Chase Field when the Dodgers begin their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. From there, he would report to Triple-A Oklahoma City for the start of a rehab assignment. Whenever Phillips begins his rehab assignment, MLB rules allow for a pitcher to remain on one for a maximum of 30 days. The Dodgers will certainly prioritize health and a prudent process, but the state of their bullpen theoretically could determine of Phillips’ rehab assignment is perhaps closer to 20 days as opposed to the full period allotted”.
Will Smith’s problem last season when he slumped and probably this season, is that his back elbow was not high enough. He hit a couple of balls really hard last night.
Doc said Mookie’s biggest problem was that he had no confidence at the plate. Last night should help that a ton. Is he back? Remains to be seen.
