OKC and Sugar Land took a scoreless tie into the 4th inning when OKC erupted for a crooked number. 3B Tyler Fitzgerald hit a one out double (5) that was followed by a BB to LF Ryan Fitzgerald. With 2 outs C Eliézer Alfonzo singled to load the bases. RF Zach Ehrhard singled home a pair, and leadoff hitter DH James Tibbs III hit a 3-run HR (12).
In the 5th, CF Jack Suwinski and the 2 Fitzgeralds drew 7 out walks to load the bases. SS Noah Miller followed with a grand slam (7), and a 9-0 lead.
Meanwhile RHSP Christian Romero was breezing through 5.1 innings allowing 2 singles with 1 BB and 6K before giving up a solo HR for the his only run allowed. After the HR, Romero issued his 2nd BB and was lifted for RHRP Keynan Middleton. Middleton induced a GIDP from the first batter he faced to end the inning.
The scored remained 9-1 until the 9th. Suwinski led off with a single, followed by a single from T. Fitzgerald. R. Fitzgerald had an RBI double with T. Fitzgerald to 3B. T. Fitzgerald scored on a SF, and R. Fitzgerald moved to 3B where he scored on a ground out.
Middleton, LHRP Antoine Kelly, and RHRP Griff McGarry each pitched a scoreless inning to complete the win.

Tulsa Drillers Did Not Play
Great Lakes Loons 14 – Dayton Dragons (Reds) 3
The Loons scored 14 runs on 16 hits and 11 BB. Every GL batter reached base and only RF Eduardo Quintero did not get a hit.
GL took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. CF Chuck Davalan led off with a single, and 19 year old SS Emil Morales hit his 1st A+ HR.
GL doubled their score in the 3rd with Quintero drawing a leadoff BB. 2B Nico Perez hit an RBI double (12) and scored on DH Jose Meza’s single.
LHSP Sterling Patick grinded out 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing 6 hits and issuing 2 BB while striking out 4. With one out in the 5th, he gave up a double and HBP before RHRP Davis Chastain relieved him. Chastain got the next two batters, one on a K to complete the 5th.
RHRP Isaac Ayon entered in the 6th. Ayon gave up a run scoring triple. It was an unearned run, cutting the lead to 4-1.
In the 7th, Davalan led off with a double (10), and Morales singled him to 3B. With 1 out, Perez walked to load the bases. LF Kole Myers hit a bases clearing triple (1) and scored on an RBI single from 1B Eduardo Guerrero.
Ayon gave up a HR in the 7th, dropping the lead to 8-2.
In the 9th. GL broke it completely open. Myers and Meza led off with BB, and C Victor Rodrigues singled to fill up the bases. Myers scored on a force out with Meza to 3B. Meza scored on a 3B Jose Izarra single. After Davalan walked to load the bases for the third time in the inning, Morales slugged his 2nd HR (2) of the game, this one a grand slam.
Ayon came out for a 4th inning. After a lead off BB and single, RHRP Reynaldo Yean relieved Ayon. Yean walked the 1st batter he faced to load the bases for the Dragons. 1 run scored on a GIDP before Yean got the final out to secure the win.

Ontario Tower Buzzers 6 – Visalia Rawhide (Dbacks) 4
RHSP Brady Smith walked the 1st batter he faced and that was followed by a 2-run HR. After that, for the next 4 innings, he did not allow another hit, and walked one. Smith struck out 3 and threw 58 pitches (39 strikes).
Visalia took the 2-0 lead into the 6th inning. 1B Mairo Martinus drew a BB and moved to 2nd on a single from 2B Kellon Lindsey. After RF Ching-Hsien Ko ground out, 3B Chase Harlan hit a 3-run HR (5), giving Ontario a 3-2 lead.
In the 7th, Ontario got a 4th run after CF Landyn Vidourek doubled and scored after 2 WP.
In his 4th inning, RHRP Luis Carias struck out the 1st two batters, then walked the next followed with a 2-run game tying HR.
But the Tower Buzzers came up with some magic of their own in the bottom of the 9th. Vidourek led off with a BB, and with 1 out, Aroz hit a walk off HR (2) for the win.

ACL Dodgers 11 – ACL Guardians 10 (7 innings)
After the Guardians took a 3-0 lead in the 1st, 3B Moises Boliver hit a grand slam (3) for a 4-3 lead. The Dodgers picked up 2 more in the 1st after a BB and doubles from LF Able Lorenzo and C Bryan Gonzalez Garcia.
In the 2nd, a BB, HBP, and player reaches on scoring error for the 7th run. 2B Daniel Mielcarek walked to load the bases. Another run scored on a Lorenzo SF. A WP and singles from Garcia and CF Jhon Gil scored 2 more.
Dodgers pitchers gave up 6 runs to tie the score in the 7th.
In the bottom of the 7th, Garcia stroked a 1 out single, and moved to 2nd on a 2-out balk. Garcia scored the winning run on a Gil walk-off single.

I’m a bit surprised that Alex Verdugo hasn’t tried to come back as a pitcher. My understanding is when he was drafted teams were wanting to pitch. Of course LA thought a better idea would be as a hitter. Turns out that the best decision may have been a shrink.

4.5 after LA wins tonight. Machado is hitting .173. His OPS+ is 74. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Tatis Jr. at .259 without a homer. His OPS+ is just 82. More surprising is Jackson Merrill. He is hitting .194, OPS+ 63
Tuck is barely league average. He needs to step it up BIG time.

Any final word on the bat-retrieving dog? I hope he too is okay. He got fired but I hope he was reassigned to more normal retrieving duties. I’m a dog lover and think the poor dog was just doing what he was trained to do for the pleasure of the fans. The incident was unfortunate but stuff happens. Things could have been worse for Dusty’s Baker’s then 4 year-old which too was a poor decision. I think the bat-dogs are cute but I’m sorry about George’s injury.

I wasn’t particularly impressed with Lauer. He threw a lot of 91 MPH center cut fastballs. Try doing that to the Phillies for example and we won’t like the outcome. If he keeps it elevated it plays. I agreed with Karros last night that the curve looked good. I think he should throw the cutter more although I know it’s been hit hard this year. Will he be good enough to get them by while waiting for one of the Dodger wounded to return? We can hope. I have thought that Mookie had been hitting the ball pretty hard before last night but hitting too many easy fly balls. We won’t know if he’s “fixed” until we know. Too many guys (Freddie, Will, Tucker) just not hitting consistently. They show flashes, but that’s all. I’m not impressed with Tucker. He has a long swing and a big hole or two. He’s been a little better lately. He has an impossible contract to live up to and he’s not living up to it. Given the quality of pitching and the number of guys who have won frequently, I still like their chances. Right now the Braves look like the team to beat in the NL and the Yankees in the AL.

The Padres continue to fade as they just got shutout for the second day in a 3 game sweep by the Phillies 3-0 and are now 4 games back of the Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Double-A affiliate in Tulsa is reportedly planning to stop letting dogs retrieve discarded bats at certain games after an injury to a star prospect. The California Post’s Jack Harris reported Wednesday that the Tulsa Drillers “are planning to suspend their bat dog program” after outfielder Kendall George suffered an apparent knee injury while dodging a dog during a Tuesday game against Northwest Arkansas. The Dodgers fear that George “suffered a moderate patellar injury” while jumping away from the dog as he jogged back to the dugout, Harris reported. The Drillers have used bat-retrieving dogs for the last five seasons. The team has suspended the program “for the immediate future.” The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya and Jesús Cano reported Tuesday the Dodgers were “not that optimistic” about George’s knee after initial imaging. The Dodgers are still waiting for final results of testing on his George’s, per Adraya, Cano and Harris.
